What an informative video! Love it! I loved looking these homes while traveling from Pasadena to LA. Always meant to go and visit, but never got the time. Now I’m in NC still wondering about the history of these homes. Then I found your video. Thanks!

Thank you so much! I think the interior of the houses are open now, so I'm planning to go back again. When I first moved to LA, there was a gorgeous, gorgeous, empty, old victorian home all alone in a large lot that I would pass on my way to work. One day, it was just gone. The developer had it destroyed, even though he had a court order not to. He said it was a mistake, paid a small fine, and that was that. It's too bad he couldn't get it to Heritage Square, because it was soooo beautiful! I'm really glad there is a place for these old homes.

Those houses are so neat! Thank you for all of the information! People don't realize how many different styles of homes there have been over the years. Also, so cool how the houses have been moved so much over the years

Thank you! Yeah, I was really surprised -- several of the houses were moved to new locations after having been purchased and before they were brought to Heritage Square. I can't imagine anyone buying a house and then moving it -- not even with Mobile Homes!!

How did they manage to dissasemble and reassemble all those homes without any visible scars?

That's a great question! Houses back then were designed to be disassembled and re-assembled elsewhere. Several of them had been sold and moved to 2 different lots before coming to Heritage Square. Houses that have a foundation & basement are harder to move, but I have seen it done (believe it or not). There are ways to separate a house in the middle without visible scars. Then the 2 (or more parts of the house) are jacked up and placed on large semis and slowly moved to a new location, where they are re-assembled. I googled "moving a house on a truck" and found a good article on Homelight dot com that has some screen shots. I can't put the link here, or the reply will be marked as spam. I couldn't find any photos of the houses at Heritage Square being moved.
