I like the fact that you don't waste. You find a use for leftovers (vegetables stock, for example). Thanks for sharing.

Avocado Tip- To ripen in 2-3 days, just put them in a brown paper bag, close the top & pop it on top of the fridge. Check daily. I keep a special bag that I decorated with avocados so I don't forget where they are.

Almond milk is delicious, and chocolate almond milk even nicer hehehe. But my favourite is oat milk. Have you tried that?

What area do you live in? Im in Cali also and our Costco charges $35 for that vanilla! Crazy! I am in the central san joaquin valley.. oh also if you make bread... look for recipes for sweet molasses bread to use your dark molasses for.. oh my goodness! Its sooo good!

You kept saying roommate so I thought you meant husband but partner/husband is one person and roommate is another person? I like the way you saved & froze a number of things that could go bad but still useful - breadcrumbs, tomato paste etc. You have so many things in your fridge prepped & ready to go you could put together a meal in less than five minutes! As for the avocados: put them in a brown paper bag tightly closed & they will ripen faster. Or better yet just inside the cupboard(cuz it's dark)with a banana which will also help ripen it faster. You could put a banana in the bag also. Once ripened & you don't want to use it immediately it can be in the fridge for up to a week. Avocados from your neighbors tree!?! Aren't you the lucky one! Your kitchen is actually how most people REALLY live/cook. tfs

Sadly, the cost of vanilla is absurd right now. I bought that same bottle of vanilla the other day and it was $30. Hopefully prices go back down soon, but Costco still has the best price.

Let's use today as an example. For me, I'm having oatmeal for breakfast (w/ walnuts, peanut butter, banana, and a little protein powder), lentil soup for lunch, watermelon and almonds for a snack, and then we'll probably have ravioli with roasted broccoli for dinner together. My husband doesn't eat breakfast, so he'll have his coffee, his lunch this week is fried rice and then lots of snacks (cashews, cucumber, apple with peanut butter, raspberries, garden tomatoes, and a donut), and ravioli for dinner with me :)

Do u take your glass jars to bulk store or do u bring your stuff home in plastic bags and transfer to your jars?
@TheGrownUpMillennial

Both! I don't use plastic bags, but I do use these homemade cloth bags and I'll fill them with bulk items and put them in jars at home. For very fine or even liquid items, like spices, protein powder, ground coffee, etc., I'll bring the jar and fill it directly. I know the weight of my jars, so I'll have them remove that weight at check out.

Why don't you cook with the extra virgin olive oil?
@TheGrownUpMillennial

Great question! So oils have a "smoke point" - a temperature at which they'll start to burn. EVOO has a very low smoke point, so it burns in most cooking. So you only want to use it for making dressings, dips, etc. Regular olive oil has a higher smoke point. I believe EVOO is the first pressing from the olives and is very clear, while virgin olive oil and regular olive oil are later pressings and can look a little more cloudy. Hope that helps!
