As a kid i had to carry a dry erase board to communicate because i had the squeak and cough. I used to joke that i sounded like R2-D2with a cold. Couldn't keep weight on my because of all the small movements i did wil my ab tension, neck, shoulder and arm twist. I have never seen another person who had tourrets almost exactly like mine. Then there is those times where i wasnt going 90 miles an hour and some one will say "oh your not doimg that squeak"....i hate when That happens. Or they will tell me to simply dont do the tic which is like saying "dont breath" your chest get tights and you just need to let go Heres to the bruised elbows

I don't have tourettes but I do tic when I get overwhelmed and incredibly stressed and one of my most common tics is me hitting myself on the top of my head and another one is a movement that spasms a lot of the muscles in my neck shoulders and back it hurts like hell every time

tics where you hit, punch, etc. yourself are so frustrating, especially when they increase in intensity and the force you have to apply! 🙃

Does it affect your sleep? Do you still have the tic when you are sleeping?

Now get older and imagine what your body is going to go through when you start having neck issues. I dont have the condition but Im getting older and my neck sure does hurt a lot I can only imagine if I had it and had a tick that cause any fast head movement. Id be wrecked on teh regular. Interesting video I think most of us never would have considered that side of things that you deal with.

as someone who will one day (hopefully! lol) be older, this is something i consider a decent amount. for me and a lot of others with TS + other tic disorders, a thing happens where we find our bodies kind of aging faster than our peers bc of our tics - for instance, i was diagnosed with bursitis in my shoulder as a result of arm muscle tensing tics when i was only 12 years old. its all super complex and interesting. Brain health. Get a scan before? I know we supposed to believe we must live with these things. I hope I'm not ignorant believing we can fix this.

Is it possible for you to interfere with the tick?

i think the concept you’re asking about/looking for is “redirection” of tics! i talk about that in all sorts of videos. (-:
