Like a lot of guys our age, I fell in love with Carolyn Munro as soon as I saw her in Dracula A.D. 1972, with Golden Voyage following soon thereafter, and The Spy Who Loved Me and At The Earth's Core both hitting in 1977. Her presence guaranteed that I would see Star Crash, as well as the constant drum beat of promotion in Starlog and Famous Monsters of Filmland magazines.

This perfectly illustrates why classic monster movies are still popular today. Myself, I collect 50's / 60's Atomic Monster / Mutations movies, as I love that period so so well. I also love the Universal Monsters films, and always end up watching one at least once a month. I'd love to go to this show, but I guess this excellent video tour is the closest I'll ever get, so thanks again Brian for such a cool video, you just do these events so well, perfectly capturing the spirit of the show and items available. Great stuff!

Awesome! Great event and great video. A million fun things come to mind. As a superhero fan 1st and then classic monsters a close second (specifically, more "monster movies" than horror) my in to appreciating Universal's and quickly later ones was through comics. Frankenstein and Dracula were always showing up in everything from Superman to random sci-fi anthology one-shots; and specifically Universal's versions. And whenever there was a werewolf, whether Jimmy Olsen or Marvel's own Werewolf by Night, it was clearly modeled after Lon Cheney Jr's. My favorite being when in comics the umiversal monsters fought the Super Friends. Even comedy versions on Saturday mornings (Drac Pack, Groovy Ghoulies, Ghost Busters, etc). It why later movies that were more steeped in the literary works instead or modernized (looking at you Twilight!) really were disappointments for me.

You didn’t buy the Blood Island stuff? The Beast of Blood built up kit would have been hard to walk away from, though the price was probably prohibitive. The Santo poster is a classic, and looked like it was in great shape. I’ve really gotten into Toy Island pirates and cowboys lately. I’m trying to get the non-U.S. releases, which never come up for sale.

This video is awesome. I had to rewatch/revisit your excellent video, Brian. Being born in the late sixties and growing up absorbing anything and everything Horror and Monster related. I can appreciate a Convention, such as this one. I've never attended a Monster Bash Convention and honestly, the Con looks incredible. Judging by your video. However.....I bet the Con looks really fantastic, actually being there. I can imagine. I do miss the days of Horrors Conventions, e.g., Fangoria Weekend of Horrors. Horror Conventions are so much different now, compared to the early days of Conventions. Just not the same anymore. Monsterpalooza, kind of captures the Old School days......but, still, not close enough. I'm of the Horror/Monster collector who collects P.O.T.As, Frankenstein, Jason Voorhees, The Munsters, '66/80s Batman, Hammer , Universal, MEGO, KISS, Halloween, Cult films,, Russ Meyer, Star Wars, Sci-Fi and etc..... Forrest J Ackerman(( R.I.P.) was the King of all things Sci-Fi and Monsters. As is Bob Burns. Those Guys are truly the inspiration of my obsession to collect, Horror and Monsters. Thank you, again, for such a wonderful video.🤘🏻
