I bought a 24 Subaru BRZ Limited and have zero regrets. It’s the best new car for me in that price range. 900 miles in and I love it more and more as I drive it. I have a a 2nd gen BRZ since early 2022. It has been great and so much fun. I live in the midwest in an area that gets real winters so AWD comes in handy at times. I put a deposit on a GRC and waited for my allocation to arrive. Once the car came, I hated it the instant I sat in it. The GRC felt like a $25k car that they were charging me $43k for. I figured "surely deiving it will blow me away". Nope. As much as I wanted to like the car, I just couldnt. I happily drove my BRZ back home and just bought a 2nd car with AWD for winter. Zero regrets.

I have a GR86 but I'm not gonna lie, I'm looking into trading for a Mazda 3 turbo or CX-30 turbo instead. The GR86 is hard to live with as an only car, in the winter, and after a hard day at work the interior is cheap and loud. When I first bought the car I was perfectly fine with the trade offs but after almost 3 years it becomes harder and harder to live with. It's loud and grating after work and winters are miserable even with winter tires.

@@brucesuitt993 Honestly that makes no sense to me. I would 100% be fine with buying an automatic as a track car because the purpose of a track car is to be fast. You already have your hands full so you don't really need a manual to have fun. On the other hand you absolutely need a manual in day to day traffic so it can keep you entertained. I find the idea that driving a manual car in traffic is some kind of a chore very, very strange.

I doubt that will happen. The 3cyl may be too tall for the 86 hoodline. It would also have to be adapted for longitudinal use in addition to many other considerations. More likely is that the GR86 is going to be cancelled probably by 2026 would be my guess, to be replaced by a new Celica. And the Celica is rumored to have a 4wd option or config which likely spells the end of the GR Corolla.
@DragonKnightX12

@@bearclaw5115Idk why some think the hood is that low. A guy did a turbo 2J swap back in 22. Toyota has already done the leg work. They have been using the 86 as a test mule for different variants of the G16. The Celica is probably taking the place of the Supra, which ends production in 26.

@@J.R.F.23 I agree. In 21 I bought my wife an Outback for her 50th birthday. We live in the mountains of north central Washington state on a private road and get 5-7 feet of snow every winter. Her Outback is the first car we’ve ever owned that we don’t have to put studded snow tires on for the winter. Granted she has to put her Outback into X mode to get up our road and into our garage. I normally have to keep my Tacoma in 4WD during the winter. The CVT in the Outback robs the engine of horsepower and torque, so her Outback is quite a bit slower than my Tacoma, but it’s an awesome road car. My sister came up last summer as our dad was gravely ill. She Loved the Outback, so she bought one for herself this year. She lives in Southern California and doesn’t need an AWD but she says it’s great in the rain and she’s glad that she bought it. When our Outback wears out, we’ll replace it with another one.
