Amazing video. I'd like to add a little more to the variations. In the Middle East, you had trims such as G, GX, GXR and VXR. In 2006 GXR and VXR were offered in limited trims. The g, gx and gxr were paired to a 4.5L i6 1FZ-FE. And were available with a 4 speed auto or a 5 speed manual through 1998-2007.The VXR came with a 4.7L V8 2UZ-FE. and was available with a 5 speed manual and 5 speed auto from 2003 onwards, before 2003 it was only available in 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto. Each country had its own variations, even if it was the same model and model year. Such as UAE, Qatar and Saudi would have different options on a GXR from model 2003. Middle East never got the Cygnus model from Toyota, as the VXR was the top model. It also didn't have different grilles or night vision. The LX470 didn't have night vision as well even at top trim level. Only GXR and VXR trims were available with wood trims. And some model years of the GXR and GX didn't even offer a sunroof. Each year the decals on the side would be different for all the trim levels. The G spec didn't get any decals. Each country had different decals as well. G and GX came with black bumpers but GXR and VXR had painted bumpers. Some variations of UAE came with different bumpers, roof rack and spoiler from factory. I can go on for hours about variations. But my fingers hurt from typing.

@@TAI-lr5vr the rabbit hole gets deeper when you find the African variants. Some of them were carburetor based, and didn't have any radio system, or arm rest. It was bare minimum. They were so simple that anyone could repair them in the bush. They had steel rims and non painted bumpers from factory. They were made as pure work horses. I think the UN used them alot.

You should say when you mention Middle East, Saudi Arabia only, or Saudi Arabia plus the other small countries around it, such as AUE or Qatar.. Check the Map. Saudi Arabia 100x bigger then the other Arabic countries and more richer and have the biggest numbers of cars like Toyota, they also like to come and buy from us Toyota etc.. because our Toyota dealer has the best options

@@wldmhd lol, Saudi, Qatar, UAE and other "surrounding" countries aren't the only ones with such trims. And people usually buy from Saudi because you can find low configured models for cheaper prices. People don't even know that some localized specs of landcruiser are assembled by third party organizations in Saudi and UAE. I mentioned Middle east because there's about 13 countries that have their own domesticated variants. Out of 17 UN recognized territories, 16 countries have their own custom specced landcruisers (these models are shipped all across the world).

I’m in Australia and have never heard of an IFS 100 series with the 1HZ engine. The 1HZ was only an option in the solid axle 105. Happy to be proven wrong on this one though. Great video by the way - your time an effort is much appreciated 👍🏼

This is a good video! However there are a few little things wrong about the engines! In Australia you could only get the 1HZ or 1FZ as a 105 and the 2UZ and 1HD-FTE as a 100. However in the Middle East you could get the 1FZ as an IFS, (FZJ100). You could also get the 1HZ and 1FZ with the 4 Speed Auto for about 3 or 4 years when the 100 came out in Australia, then in became Manual only. Apart from those little things this video is very factually correct! (Edit, i've just checked some other comments and another person commented on that IFS 1HZ)

I would totally be down to do a 200 series. The catch is I want to find a VDJ200R manual with barn doors because that's the most unique spec rather than the fully decked out Sahara (which is also a potential candidate)

Thanks so much for this video. I’m in Australia and looking at importing a manual trans hdj101. Did they have cruise control as factory on the manuals in Japan? Is there anywhere which has a full comparison of specs and trims? Thanks

Ahh yes the manual Hdj101. Has the price of diesel HDJ100R'S ballooned that much in OZ? Anyway they don't come cruise control in manual form. Good luck finding one since only 894 were built between December 1998 to about January or May 2000 before they made the switch to the facelift car in August 2002 which completely dropped the option for a manual gearbox. Hope that helps

Great overview of the hundy. I have had 3 UZJ100's, all Aus delivered GXL's. I really REALLY want a JDM UZJ100 VX limited G selection, but we can't import them until they are 25 years old, and I want a 5sp so will have to wait until 2027 or something stupid before I can get a 2003.. I might just get a 1998 so I can get it sooner and put up with the 4sp. I love the styling of the original verison anyway. What do you think about that "Flex" company that is converting all the 100 series to have 60/80 series front ends? I think they look idiotic and they are ruining all the clean 100 series in Japan! I'm worried there won't be many left by the time I can import one! Or it will be stupidly expensive. Especially now that Pewdiepie has one, I mean it's cool that he has the same car as me, but not cool in terms of it will boost the popularity of the 100 conversions with 60 faces..

@TAI-lr5vr

Well the chuki to kouki cars (jdm one's) use the same 17" wheels as the VX limited. The early one's had 16" on them. There's was the UK spec Amazon with it's bougie AF 18" which are similar to the 60th anniversary edition cars too. Hope that helps to clarify 😁
