Stefan, I was tempted to buy a Safari ECU when they were first released, thankfully sanity prevailed and I decided to wait for real world testing. Since then I have seen a number of reviews identifying "strange" issues following the installation of the Safari ECU. Obviously any product can encounter issues but what I find interesting is this: I am yet to hear of issues resulting from the installation of a UNICHIP (yours is the first), I have not heard of any complaints regarding UNICHIP's customer service. This leads to my conclusion: 1. there is a conspiracy against Safari (Safari Australian company / Unichip: South African company) being led by reviewers (who have all been Australian/ who therefore have an unexplainable bias towards a South African company) OR 2. There is an underlying problem with Safari's product which is not rampant but when it does occur the company consistently demonstrates its inability to provide the customer service expected from an Australian and who I use to consider a reputable company - the way in which their customers have been treated borders on contempt. I for one am glad I never purchased their ECU and secondly, the way in which Safari has treated their customers will lead me to purchase a TJM snorkel instead of Safari for the first time with all my vehicles.
@AlloffroadAu
4 жыл бұрын
look I could only scratch the surface in regards to Safari and there is a lot more I cant tell, put it like this the ECU for the 1HD-FTE was pulled from sales shortly afterwards and is not available anymore. Shit can happen but how you deal with it makes all the difference, rest assured I purchased a TJM snorkel for my Jeep. The big difference between the Safari and the Unichip was that the Safari was supposed to be plug and play it was clear that the Unichip needed custom tuning so I would put that issues not on the Unichip but more on the one who tuned the chip.

Lithium batteries under the bonnet? No good they won't last. I would love to see you use that setup in a hard winching application. No DC-DC charger? Then how do you charge? certainly wont be charging to full capacity. You need to re look at this system of yours.
@AlloffroadAu
4 жыл бұрын
all depends on the Lithium, the are used in house batteries and power dryer, washing machines etc. High Current applications should be no problem for Lithium all depends on the BMS and DCS Lithium is rated for high current draw. It's charged from the alternator much faster charging than DCDC. Have seen plenty of regular batteries go in extrem winching as well so risk is always there in theory Lithium is better for it.
@gotoylc
4 жыл бұрын
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV I am very skeptical of your set up for two reasons; 1) Lithium batteries are not recommended for the engine bay due to the high temperatures; 2) Lithium batteries should not be charged directly from the alternator as a full charge will not be achieved, but this depends on the alternator type being used. Engine bay is a different area compared to household machinery, so you can’t compare. Can you give a life expectancy on the engine bay mounted Lithium batteries?
@AlloffroadAu

@@gotoylc 1. The DCS battery is recommended for the engine bay (though it will reduce the lifespan) 2. why not? I would love to know what your 105 has cost you! Don’t get me wrong it’s awesome, but big $$$$ have been spent, which isn’t realistic for most owners but makes great video content, which I guess is what it’s all about in your case.

hm, the KZitem Channel is a hobby which cost me money every month so not sure why spending big money on a build for that would make any sense, I worked hard all my life and now being retired I build a vehicle to serve the purposed to explorer Australia and doing this I don't want to be limited by reliability or capability what you see is the outcome nothing more nothing less.
