For a couple weeks I had the same codes pop up intermittently; check engine, vsc and 4wd, eventually got a code for cyl 2 misfire, so I swapped the coil pack and haven't had an issue since! my 07 is currently at 163k, swapped to fresh plugs around 150k, and change oil every 4-5k miles and top off between. Love it!

Same here. I noticed the lights would appear and the steering wheel would lock up and the car would "shut off" when I was making turns in and out of parking spots. After changing the coil we haven't had this issue in over a year.

Yes!! Finally a Rav on the channel! The trickle down rate is now making them affordable to owners. Toyotas always love to show all the lights for one main issue. Hope you like your new launch! Good scantool. I recognize the lower end devices often have Creader trademark. I think maybe long ago you might have had one. Enjoy!

Cute little baby SUV. I think those look like the wrong sized tires. Supposed to be 225/65R/17 but they look like 215/55R/17 don't you think? Poor baby she even lost her spare boot cover. Thank you for taking the time. This 4 cyl is a little buzzy for this application. The V6 is much more desired and enjoyable for this car.

We have had good luck reducing oil usage in Toyotas by putting about 4oz of Berrymans B-12 in each cylinder after centering the pistons so they are all in the middle and letting it soak overnight. Then add some to the engine oil, run it for 15-20 minutes and then change the oil. We have had some engines needing 1qt every 300 miles go back to 1qt every 1,000 miles. It depends on how long you’ve driven it with the high oil consumption.

So was the code from the more sophisticated reader the correct problem, or the one from the cheaper one? Today I drove my 2007 RAV4 about 1 mile, ran in a store and came right back out. All these lights lit up when I started it. I was next to a NTB garage, so I stopped in and they put their big diagnostics reader on and it gave four codes. P0138 -O2 sensor circuit high voltage bank 1 sensor 2. P0328 Knock/Combustion Vibration Sensor A circuit High. C1289 Engine control system fault. C1201 Engine control system fault. He said I shouldn’t drive it back home the less than 1 mile, I needed to tow it. I just recently had a lot of work done on it around 2 months ago or less. I spent over $4300 getting work done and the original problem still persists.

Have this same issue on 2007 Limited 2.4L. It has been to 3 Toyota dealers. End result is they said it is because my catalytic converter needs replaced. I can clear the code but it always comes back eventually. Replaced 02 sensors. No change. When the DTC is active....cruise control, stability control and AWD do not work.

There is a similar thing on 4Runners where the VSC light and an other shows up. Erasing the codes makes it normal for a short while then it comes back. There is a procedure I found on line that "fixes" that problem. So far, after a thousand miles, it hasn't come back. I guess it's an electronic glitch of some sort.

Toyota's share the data bus, so when one module has an issue the others can't communicate so when they try to communicate they throw a light (thus all the lights). You just need a scan tool and work the highest priority lights (such as misfire) backwards before the others and you'll find your problem. I would not recommend erasing the codes or disconnecting the battery. That is the only data you have to work with. At the minimum, if erasing codes, mark them all down.
@2-old-Forthischet

@@a.k.4669 I did hook up a small code reader and it showed no codes. I looked up on some forums when I came across a "fix" of jumping two leads on the OBD connector and a series of key on and off. It's been almost two thousand miles now with no issues. In fact, I just came home yesterday from a two day camping trip to the desert for it's first outing. It was amazing so the next trip is in a few weeks.

Everyone should be aware of overfilling the coolant reservoir. Some mechanic was trying to be nice but overfilled it for someone in our fleet and they then had it overflow and down below is the alternator and it killed it. Doesn't matter if it is old. Many OE units last hundreds of thousands of miles if unmolested. If you've seen the pink crusties from coolant you know it is bad for the wires and brushes inside an alternator if it falls in

Hello! I really like your videos! I hope you can help me. I cant find another page to write you, sorry. So, I have a 2006 rav4 2.0 vvti 4wd. I changed the wheel drive airbag, because i want steering wheel buttons. With the new smaller airbag the airbag light is on. We delete it with the computer, but its come back. I put back the old one, the light is off. Any idea for this? I cant use the new one with the light on… :(

How long ago did you change those plugs? Would like to know approximately how long it takes to do that! Would recommend they go up increments to next weight oil to see how much less oil it can use. If 5w-20 try 5w-30 and even 10w-30. Some people swear by lucal oil stabilizer for oil burners but it's so thick! Like honey. Yes when it's warm it moves but I'm concerned about cold startup. Once they figure out a good weight where they won't lose so much, she can go get the Kirkland synthetic because synthetic burns off less.

We tried using synthetic oil after we bought a 2006 213,000 mile rav4 and found that it burned oil faster than using conventional 5-30.

Very bad practice. For Toyota diagnostic MUST be use Toyota Techstream software. No chinese red bricks. NOTE. If a misfire code(s) is read, then the technician must analyze with scantool: First. Freeze frame data and TSBs. After that, need to analyze these parameters: Ignition, any Cylinder(s) Misfite Rate, Misfire RPM, Misfire Load, Misfire Margin and EWMA Misfire...
