@sotommy1949 yes , if you live in a region where it can get really cold, better make sure that the dealer talks to you about a winter package. The block heater alone doesn’t do the trick as the 12v battery and the hybrid battery suffer when the temps deep down in to the - 15 degrees . We have been having issues with this for the past three years and after a lot of inquiring mostly on my own I discovered that there is a lot that the Toyota dealers doesn’t know about the own cars they sell .

I bought the Versa Limited and am not sure I made the right choice. The reason I went with Venza is because I was looking to get the most luxury I could get out of a Toyota CUV. I'm totally sold on the large screen, soft touch interior, design, and the panoramic stargaze sunroof. But what bothers me is thinking about what I'm missing out on in terms of utility. The Venza's sunroof is fixed while the Rav4 sunroof opens. The Rav4 has towing abilities and the Venza does not. Having a sunroof on a Venza deletes the roof rack. And it also bothers me that my Venza has less cargo space than the Rav4. But then again, I am convinced that driving a Venza will be a more pleasant experience than I'd have with a Rav4. The point to my rambling is to suggest that if you're in the market for one of these vehicles, take your time. Don't let the salesman tell you whats best for you. Test drive both of them. Look them over very well and take time to decide which of the two suits your lifestyle the most. It's a tough decision and you'll probably have second thoughts no matter what you decide on.

Man this couldn’t have come out at a better time. We’re looking at replacing our Journey in the spring/summer and these are the top 2 picks. The Venza reminds me of the ex girlfriend/boyfriend who looked great but after a year you found out there wasn’t much else to offer. The Rav on the other hand doesn’t look all that striking but will be with you through it all.

So far, I prefer the ride of the Venza, and the blessed quiet. Touch controls have not caused any mishaps yet. All the higher trim Toyotas seem to be migrating to this 12" display, and also the several EV's just announced. Got the activity mount and roof rack which we won't be testing until the summer.

I have the XLE trim and honestly do not miss a sunroof. I’m fair skinned and rarely used the one in the Rav. I’m also not impressed with a pano roof. Not like I would benefit since driving it my eyes should be on the road. I actually don’t find the placement of the push start button to be odd. I like it there. The Qi charging plate could be in another spot though. I can see leaving my phone there. Overall, I love the Venza so far and the spacing in the cargo area is fine

RAV4 is cheaper and just more beneficial for me at least. I'm waiting til they fix the gas tank and battery issue before purchasing.

Posting this in August 2024. Having owned Subarus built both in Japan and North America, the quality of materials in the Japanese built is far superior. So for my next vehicle, Japanese built was my top consideration. That doesn't leave many options anymore. I'm not paying the bloated prices for a RAV4 Prime which is built in Japan. I waited to see pricing on the Signia, and what does Toyota do... only offering the Limited trim with 21 inch wheels and Panoramic roof in Canada, both items that I'd pay more NOT to have! So I ordered a Venza XLE while I still could, it will be at least 7K less than the Signia, hopefully it actually arrives, if not, it will be a 2025 Forester for me. Another minor negative against the RAV4 for me is that that there is so many of them on the road, can't swing a dead cat without hitting one... But, that's what happens when you build a great product.

@stephenhendricks103

Factoid. The mainstream "midsize" CUV/SUV market category in North America is huge with almost every automaker offering two vehicles. One a smaller SUV nearly all of which offer two rows of seats and a group of larger vehicles nearly all of which come standard with three rows. Prior to the introduction of the new Venza, Toyota and Mazda stood alone in offering only a larger 3 row crossover. Now Mazda stands alone on that score. In effect the Venza's role is simply to fill that gap in the smaller midsize sub-category between the RAV4 and the Highlander. Basing it on the existing Harrier Toyota was able to tweak it in minor ways and rebadge it, eliminating major design and production costs. To make it a distinctive offering Toyota took one of its tremendously popular hybrid drivetrains and made it the single option for the Venza. A huge seller? Probably not. But the Venza comes across as a budget Lexus that appeals to childless couples and small families who seldom if ever venture off suburban pavement and freeways. Consumers who neither need the three rows of seats in a Highlander nor find the "rugged" look of a RAV4 appealing. If the RAV4 projects a 4Runner vibe (if not the substance) the Venza taps the consumer segment who want the sleekness and functionality of a 20th century station wagon in the form of 21st century SUV.

The 'old station wagon' Venza was so popular in wagon-loving Canada that you have to wonder why Toyota won't offer us any wagons today. The RAV4 Hybrid gives so much more UTILITY than the new Venza. The RAV4 provides more storage space, ground clearance and supplies a very practical 1,750 lbs towing capacity. The RAV4 Hybrid is cheaper and best of all, it is made in Canada!!! #BuyCanadian

I just got the XSE Rav4 and I remember this comparison helping me decide between the two vehicles. My only criticism of the Rav4 would be the lack of Panoramic roof and power passenger seats. Also with the tech package, the 360 camera should have been included. If the XSE tech. is the top of the line of the sportive model, then why not have the 360 camera. The interior alone in the Venza makes me consider it over the RAV4. The quality and fit and finish are leagues ahead of the RAV4, which feels like a really cheap feeling mid-2000s era Toyota in anything but the Limited, Trail and XSE Tech trims. The RAV has better cargo space sure and I do hate the touch controls for the HVAC on the Venza. Then again, these cars probably wouldn't be my first choices in the segment. And good luck trying to get the RAV4 Prime; 2023 are what BC dealers are quoting now if you order today. What a joke, the incentives and rebates might just be gone by that point in time.

One thing often overlooked is that the Venza isn't rated for towing, which definitely cuts down on its versatility. Strange, given the apparent similarities between engine specs, but you can only get an activity mount for the Venza (bikes, etc.), while the Rav4 is rated to tow 1750 lbs - so you could pull a small utility trailer, etc. I don't understand why they're different in this respect, but it's a significant difference. Do you folks know why that is?

@@rightlanehog3151 Thanks for the rec, I actually watched one of those videos yesterday, as well as his comparison between the Venza and the Rav4 Hybrid. Interesting that the Rav4 tow rating is a fair bit higher in Europe, provided your trailer has e-brakes!
@rightlanehog3151

@@mattrollie9135 I badgered Alex for months to install a hitch on his long-term RAV4 Hybrid and to produce some tow videos. He put a lot of extra time and effort into those tow videos and they far exceeded my wildest expectations. As the owner of a boat and trailer that weigh approximately 1,000 pounds, the RAV4 Hybrid is a probably the best fit in the North American market for my personal needs. Of course, it would be nice if the 245 hp Hybrid system from the Highlander/Sienna was an available upgrade for the RAV4. That would bump up power and towing capacity while costing very little in terms of mpg. I credit Toyota for bringing the new, all-Hybrid Venza to market as it provides another fuel efficient option but the RAV4 seems like the clear winner to me.
@mattrollie9135
3 жыл бұрын
@@rightlanehog3151 Thanks for persuading Alex, those videos are definitely very useful. Totally agree about the Highlander system, that would be nice. I'm basically in the same boat as you, I would like to be able to tow a utility trailer for odd jobs around our property, a small boat, etc. I love 4Runners, they've been very good to us over the years. However, while we're often in rural areas it's rare that I truly go off-road, so I don't need that level of capability day-to-day (though up here in British Columbia, there is some pretty rugged terrain). I would like to figure out a way to limit my gas consumption (environment & operating costs), and from a functional standpoint the Rav4 hybrid is looking like quite a good option. The Prime would be nice, but when I inquired at a local dealership they told me it was about a 2 year wait (which isn't an option). Cheers!
