The thing is even the BZ4x has had some very good reviews. For a lot of people small things are important. It has normal door handles, indicator stalks, some real buttons, an instrument display in front of you, ultrasonic parking sensors that work etc. I get some people like the minimal look of a Tesla, but not everyone wants to dive through touchscreen menus for basic settings, and I have no interest whatsoever in doing 0 to 60 in 3 seconds.

I think they are both attractive, but in different ways, and yes the sporty one does seem to have quite a long bonnet. The boxy one has a lot more appeal to me - I want something with a bit of off-road ability and ground clearance, but don't need or want too much and at present there is nothing on the market that offers what I want with acceptable range including the execrable Bz4x. I also want something with decent interior room and load space. But...given these two are made by BYD, I'd want to buy them with a BYD badge, not the logo of a company that has had nothing to do with the vehicle's gestation.

Toyota is still testing the EV. Currently, they are focusing on high-brid vehicles and solid-state batteries. When they realize EVs are the future, Toyota will probably change the name of its EV cars, like Corolla and Camry. No one thinks bZ3C & bZ3X are good names for a serious car business. But Toyota is purposely keeping the name. It's a brilliant strategy and Only Toyota can afford it.
@zurinarctus1329

Toyota practically failed because it didn't manage to secure and build supply chains for EVs. The Chinese have taken over all the supply chains, and it makes it unaffordable for Japanese automakers to jump in. Japanese automakers waste their time on hydrogen, and it's funny that China currently dominates the global hydrogen market also. If you can't secure an affordable supply chain ecosystem, you will lose in the automotive market. Chinese absolutely hate Japan, and there's no way that China will allow Japan to jump into automotive once all Chinese EVs dominate the market. The same phenomenon has happened with solar panels, cells where China evicted Japan out for good. Unless Japan sells its automakers to Chinese and foreign investors, and that is already happening with many Japanese businesses fall into foreigners due to weak Yen.
