If Ford wants to survive they need to do this. Because Toyota is shredding everyone right now. I live in Mexico City. I was driving for hours and only found one old Ford SUV on the streets. Most were Toyotas, Mazdas, Volkswagens and Chevrolets. But most were Toyotas.

I had a 1991 Toyota Celica Gtr 2.0L for 21 years with absolutely no problems, I bought it second hand with 24k Km on the meter. I was going to keep it as a classic car, (here in Cyprus a car must be at least 30 years old & in factory condition without any mods to be eligible for classic car registration - get road tax discount). Because of its age I needed to pay a lot for insurance & road tax, finally I sold it when it was 25 years old with only 89k Km on the meter - ('cause it was my leasure car - only for the weekend car) to a collector a Toyota mechanic. I really miss that car, I have photos.

Rock Auto used to note when a part was the OEM but I havent been on there in a while so they may have changed that. But yes they do sell OEM and after market products on there. Sometimes I cant find OEM for my saturn so I have to buy after market ones. I took my car to a mechanic who found a clutch pedal from his dealership network for over $500 but I could have gotten an aftermarket one that looked identical for $71. Sure the one from him was an OEM and a miracle he found a clutch for an almost 20 year old car that they dont make anymore but at the same time its an almost 20 year old car they dont make anymore... I dont plan on keeping it for the rest of my life so if the after market one works for a few years that should be longer than I own this car.

Tesla isn't doing so well either. Now that you can actually buy a Model 3 for the price Musk originally claimed, under $35,000 (the first models off the assembly line were in the mid $50,000 range), the depreciation will kill your finances. If you had sold short that same dollar amount ($35000) of Tesla stock about two weeks ago and covered it this week, you would have made nearly $5000 in profit, which would be a great down payment on a more practical vehicle.

@@aussie2uGA Yes, you are right. It moved along with the market and tech stocks, but its quarterly report was not good. Some commentators thought it was being manipulated and bid up like some "meme" stocks. But with current vehicle pricing, it is unlikely it will be profitable in the near future. Past sales included rental car companies. They found they could not rent Teslas profitably and will likely not buy them in the future. And those rental cars will be dumped on the market. Hertz is offering 2023 Model 3s with 34,000 miles at about $22k. Why buy new?

Not enough resources on the planet to fulfil the “electric dream”. Difficult to properly maintain. Difficult to recycle. It’s as simple as that.

They need to offer the V6 and 4 naturally aspirated engines in all models. Let the people pick what they want.
