Finally, all the videos I've been watching about Tacoma mpg's have been claiming 17 - 22. I had a 2016, 2wd that got 32 mpg, and 27 in the rain. Traded it in for a V6 in 2018, 2wd double cab, same mileage. All that time I was hypermiling, out of habit I guess, and wondering why ppl didn't believe me. Thanks for posting this cause I checked at the pump and the 2005 model, not a pre-runner, did even better.

@@l6j8b32 nice 👍🏼 that helps a lot to increase gas mileage. Here in Texas, highway 🛣 speed limit is 70-75. That kills our gas mileage if we are traveling from one city to another. You have to be on an empty highway to safely travel 55 mph

Since gravity constantly pulls you down, it's actually better to finish the up hill quickly(ie go faster), then just let gravity pull you down hill (don't use ANY gas). After riding a bicycle for thousands of miles, I proved this to myself using my own endurance (energy) while in college.

Before I calibrated my scangauge, it was showing MPG numbers that were 7-8% high. If yours is uncalibrated, that 32.2 number is likely much closer to 30 or 30.5 in the real world.

It’s called a “scan gauge” I bought it online. It plugs into the car’s computer. Very easy to install.

Most people’s time is worth more than what you are doing. If you save $1 per day and it takes you 15 more minutes drive time, this means you have to make less than $4.00 per hour. This is based on a 30 mile commute and 70mph vs 50mph. And I doubt your taco is actually getting 32mpg across the full tank of fuel. Old saying goes, don’t worry about the mules, just load the wagon.

@@TheRainHarvester I would say it's possible, but only if you are driving conservatively and stay under 60 mph with only flat land. If I run around 80 on the interstate the trip average is usually 21 or 22.
