Yes, not everyone has an IQ over their shoe size. So you are correct. But as the owner of a 19 voodoo blue trd pro taco, i traded it in on a 24 pepper red ranger raptor. Couldnt be happier. And the raptor cost me msrp ALMOST 10 grand less than the 24 trd pro. Which looks cool AF, but we all know that tiny ass 4cyl doesnt belong in a 2.5 ton truck. And the hybrid shit is asking for trouble.

It's got my attention, and I hate it. He's just a shill. Turbo 4 bangers are fine in sedans and they usually don't last a 100K without trouble. Turbo 4 bangers in sedans can last 100K if you are very gentle with them, keep everything clean, all maintenance done and cool them down properly after driving them. There'll be no 400,000+ mile turbo 4 banger in a pickup truck that is used as a pickup truck. It may last 100k if all it does is crawl mall parking lots.

Smaller, higher reving, turbo engines have higher internal stresses and pressures which will cause more wear and tear and less longevity. V8s last because they Rev lower and have lower internal stress. The costs of these new trucks do not reflect what you get from them.

Yeah, butttttt they are not getting bought way more in mass. The engine just got put into a different segment for a different car crowd and now it's in more peoples hands. If it was in the highlander and NX350, pretty much city cars and you put the engine in a truck, you're gonna have different testing parameters and failure rates. It will all get fixed. Yea look at the new tundra with the 3.5 tt v6. How many sat at dealerships , with failed turbos ,and transmissions, because first the parts prematurely failed early, and then toyota didnt have the parts to do the warranty repairs, because they were on back order all the way back to the supplier, manufacturer of the parts. My brothers tundra sat at the dealership over 4 months, waiting on turbos. I love toyota vehicles, but sad to say toyota manufacturing, and the dealership service has gone downhill fast.

I test drove a 24' Tacoma a couple of weeks ago, and was not impressed at all. First thing I noticed was the interior. The rear seat and floorboard area is definitely smaller. So we took it out on a good long test drive. I wanted to see what it would do going into an on ramp to a busy interstate. It did seem to have pretty good HP, but the little four cylinder was screaming like it was about to give up. I also noticed that the engine rpms were very high, to accomplish the takeoff, and to merge into traffic on the interstate, and bypass, in my area. And after driving it around for a while, I noticed that the fuel economy didn't seem to be as good as they claim. I guess you really have to keep your foot out of the accelerator. But wait it's a 4cylinder turbo ... LoL I have four Toyota Tacoma's, A 2005, 2008, 2012, and a 2015. All doublecabs. I have 241,000 on the 2005, and have never had any issues with any of my tacoma's. The 4.0v6 is powerful and they are easy to maintain, and work on. I've built myself a shop at my home, a couple of years ago, and being Toyota ASE Certified master Tech, I can keep my tacoma's on the road for a very long time. Sorry I'm just not impressed with the 2024. But hey that's my opinion and my choice. And at $50-$60k I won't be buying a new tacoma

I would rather have a Camry hybrid drive train on the front axle (200 hp). And an electric machine on the rear axle (200 to 400 hp). And enough electric resources to make it all work. And a buffer control so I could select small buffer for light duty gasoline free commuting OR large buffer for heavy duty macho hybrid towing (or showing off) . And don't forget the 110 and 220 Volt AC outlets. Chevy could have done this 6 years ago with the Volt system. Camry hybrid drive train is a high volume efficient and proven system featuring: No turbos. No GDI without port injection. No sleazy mechanical CVT. No accessory belts. Etc.

I just picked up a 2024 TRD Sport 4x4 in Blue Crush Metallic with a 6 speed manual. So far, the truck performs beautifully. The key to turbo engines is to not drive them too hard - let them cool down after hard driving, let the oil warm up in cold weather, and change the oil every 6 months / 5000 miles. Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance! My truck will be garaged.

4cylinder vehicles are reliable That is proven Less moving parts is reliable 6 and 8 cylinder vehicles will tend to last longer as the load is spread over more cylinders But they are more expensive to run and maintain vs a 4cylinder All comes down to what the expected use of the vehicle is going to be Towing etc The common comment is it won’t last 300k miles Only a small percentage of of vehicles last that long for varying reasons the main one being economic Who is going to throw 5k of repairs in a 250k mile vehicle? It doesn’t make sense So that 300K mile point is just stupid Think of a volume seller vehicle and note how many old examples one sees around It is a fraction of the initial number probably only 10% Vehicles are guaranteed obsolescence So buy or lease your Tacoma and enjoy it for 3 or 4 years and let someone else sweat about the turbo😅

I don't have to accept sh!it because I am absolutely not buying this pos. Toyota fuqked up big time with this. The Taco used to be one of the mainstay go to's for ovverlanders and offroaders. Not anymore. The sales are tanking because nobody wants that plastic fantastic pos. It is WAY overpriced, for starters; secondly....the fourbanger was a mistake that Toyota will live to regret regardless of it "reliability", and I use that word very loosely in this truck. The old V6 could take to offroad and overlander punishment and keep on ticking like nothing ever happened. This four banger??? I don't think so. This thing is made for the streets and soft roads, not necessarily the hardcore trails that overlanders and offroaders put it through. At the end of the day, to each their own. If you have the money to waste on this garbage offering from Toyota, then knock your socks off. As for me and mine; we will find a way to make our gen 3's last for as long as they possibly can and then we'll go buy Chevy's. At least they are still doing it right and putting the proper engine in the damn truck.
