So I ended up doing this today on my '06. Took around three and a half hours, as I decided to attach the new cover to the seat using those key ring things. Real pain, but it makes it fit pretty near factory. One thing I discovered that made the process easier is that the foam seat itself is only attached to the frame with two strips of velcro. Once I pulled the cover off, I could pull the seat itself off real easily, and it made fitting the new cover to the seat far simpler. Thanks again for this video, very helpful!

Awesome. I'm glad you did the clips because I was curious how that would work. Glad the video was useful to you.

Okay so I'll add a few things since I'm dealing with this exact problem. I've had a new identical cover as the one in this video, that I also bought on ebay sitting in a back room for about a year and a half. I have actually had excellent success in the past doing these bottom seat replacements on several vehicles including Yukons, Escalades and Tahoes and older Toyota trucks. I can tell you those plastic attachments on the bottom of the new cover are made to clip into the bottom seat foam. I was very disappointed when I finally took mine apart and found the old fashioned upholstery clips. Then I started digging on youtube and ended up here. The secret to success to these factory duplicate replacement covers is to spend the extra money and buy the new foam. Always. The problem is I cannot find this foam for sale and if I do I assume it's going to be OEM and require those upholstery clips not these plastic inserts. Still working on it. I'll update if I have anything useful to add.

So an update. I used a good solid pair of wire cutters and carefully cut away the old hog rings. Took about my 4th pair of wire cutters these hog rings are pretty strong buggers.. The small wire cutters wouldn't cut it, the #9 Kleins wouldn't fit, 4th pair was medium size, could reach snipped through em quickly. Then went to harbor freight and bought a hog ring tool and found some 1/2 hog rings at a hardware store.. The plastic/nylon bars or trim that the new seat has is what the hog rings will go around to hold the seat tightly. I have done an older Lexus RX that had a cover like this that snapped in place in about 30 seconds, no such luck here. Old school baby. Get to work with a youtube video and a how to on hog rings. I don't like to deal with these hog rings but no way I'm going through this and having a loose seat. My foam is okay, but not great and I can certainly feel the difference in the stiffness where the driver slides in and out vs the other side/rear corner that never gets much pressure. It's done and looks good but really wish I could've paid a little more and bought the foam but didn't see a single one for this truck on amazon or ebay.

Need to do this on my 09’ driver side. The hog rings look challenging, I get why you skipped that part. I’d assume they keep that fabric from moving side to side as you get in & out. Looks good 👍🏼

Yea, I probably should have given it a shot, but if it causes any issues I can get it apart pretty easy. I haven't had any issues with it moving, it just doesn't look quite as contoured as the other seat. It is much nicer than before and I'm glad I did it.

@@JohnHamerProjects I’m in the middle of taking this off right now… did you need the take off the plastic around the seat belt buckle? I got the screw on the back and one of the clips but I can’t seem to pull it off. And i can’t remember what website i got it off of but I’m second guessing it’s a real oem but looks damn close

Yea, I am super happy with it. I have already forgot it doesn't quite match. It's not noticeable at all in the truck.
