In tough economic times, you need a tough truck to survive. 1991 was the worst recession in Australia's history (not counting the Great Depression), but it actually worked in Toyota's favour. While most consumers stopped buying new cars, businesses still had to, and Toyota took advantage of this with it's wide range of trucks and vans. Ford and Holden lacked the products to compete. As a result, Toyota became the number 1 selling brand in Australia in 1991 for the first time ever, and has to this day held the number 1 spot. This ad aired in March 1991. Toyota trucks - you can get them in any colour as long as it's white!
