One more thing, the problem with 1GbE ports or no faster (2x) pair of e.g. 2.5GbE or 10GbE is your local network especially if any traffic needs to be filtered though the router and not on a faster Switch. Hopefully, soon 2.5GbE ports will be the "norm" standard.

@@landpet Thank you for your guidance. I've purchased the device, but I'm concerned it may not actually Wifi 7. It appears more like utilizing the Wifi 6/6E technology, with enhancements in channel and frequency range. The device employs a novel approach to operate on multiple channels or frequencies simultaneously, aimed at boosting network speeds. However, I couldn't find an option to set up a dedicated Wifi 7 radio. Instead, it relies on Multi-Link Operation (MLO) , which amalgamates various wifi radios (2.4Ghz,5Ghz and 6Ghz) to enhance speed. This leads me to suspect that what they're marketing as 'Wifi 7' might just be an advanced form of Wifi 6/6E technology. If you did not turn on MLO, it will just be a normal Wifi 6E router.

Can you do wired backhaul using the SFP+ ports on the satellite units to free up 10G ports? Fiber ONT to SFP+ on host Deco, 10G port on host to switch (or directly to SFP+ on satellite x 2), then switch Ethernet to SFP+ on each satellite? This would free up a 10G port on each satellite Deco. If going straight from the host to 2 satellite units, that would use up both 10G ports on the host but would free up 2 10G ports on the satellites so you would net one extra 10G

I just bought this setup for my 3400SF 2-story house that isn’t wired. I’m blown away. I’m coming from the Orbi RBK850 3-pack setup. In a daisy chain layout, my wifi speeds have more than doubled from my old Orbi setup. My furthest away satellite is pulling nearly 500mbps down vs 100-150 on the old Orbi. I have ATT fiber 1gbps speeds. If you can afford the system, don’t hesitate to get it. The app blows the Orbi app out of the water too. Very user-friendly.

The wireless backhaul speeds on this are next level; I did a demo in my previous video here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2m-cz4WnopGWmnY With that said, it really depends on your situation and your internet speeds. You can go through the power adapter, you can also use a MoCA device to go over Coax, both of these should work well but on wireless backhaul download speeds, you can get the full 5Gbps over wireless backhaul which is technically faster than MoCA 2.5 or any powerline adapter at least that I've seen, maybe there are faster ones now?

The speed on 5ghz obviously eliminates the isp as the problem right? Why would I get such horrible 2.4 speeds? I think I should return these and get the BE95's cause I'm changing isp providers to 3up 3down anyway. But still...... why such bad 2.4 speeds? It's got to be the xe75 right?
@landpet

2.4GHz is designed for range not for speed. You would get slow speeds on any mesh system even this BE85. Phones, laptops, computers, etc connect through the 5GHz or 6GHz (for WiFi 6E or 7 devices) to get faster speeds with normal range. Simply put: 2.4 is slow speeds with great range 5GHz is for good speeds with normal range 6GHz is for faster speeds with even less range. WiFi 7 devices that connect to WiFi 7 routers are able to connect through more than one frequency at a time. WiFi 6E and below can only connect through one band frequency

I am using the Firewalls Gold Plus and the Deco BE85 in this way. Still rare for me to get or justify Internet beyond 1G speed, but why I wanted these and run them in AP mode is that I have two Internet connections going into the Firewall Gold. A 1G and a 300mbps, both symmetrical. The FWG+ works well load balancing at 70/30 plus some preferred routes going over on or the other connection. Note that I am using Optimum/Altice and Verizon fiber for the Internet. I had stability issue with Optimum which was not ideal with 2 people working from home full time. The dual connections has been flawless for a year. Have never lost connectivity since despite intermittent failures on Optimum.

@@landpet Cat 7 is a strange one. When that standard was set it was for a specific new type of port that wasn't widely adopted. So your actually better off with Car 6A, or 8, cat 7 was a bit of a flawed standard although the cables do work, just not at their intended potential. Still I think WiFi 7 needs further development yet. WiFi has come a long way though in a relatively short space of time.

The advanced section has three choices: 1) 2.4GHz and 5GHz on at the same time 2) 2.4GHz only 3) 5GHz only If you select the 2.4GHz only, then only the 2.4GHz is On, the 5GHz is Off. Range is the strength of mesh, just add more mesh nodes though I believe they don't recommend more than 3 from the router but that's a lot of range, after that you can add 60Ghz wireless bridges leading to more mesh nodes for greater ranges if you need to go further across large properties, so long as you have line of sight.
