Correction for the video: The Neptunes actually started working with Justin Timberlake before he went solo. They produced “Girlfriend” for N’Sync. Also, they are one of the only producers to do almost every genre out. Check out “By Your Side” remix for Sade, “Don’t be Light” Remix for AIR, and “Sympathy for the Devil” Remix for The Rolling Stones. They’ve done a ton of music for international artists too like Australia’s Kylie Minogue and UK’s Ed Sheeran. Their remix of Garbage’s “Androgyny” is legendary too.

Their signature sound was wild. My personal favorite phase of them was the mid 2000s; 05-06 to be exact. Had a darker tone compared to their colorful earlier and present stuff. Like that first Pharrell solo single? Got it like that? I think it’s called; was so crazy!! And all of the hell hath no fury album. Masterpiece!

It's crazy how people claim they know music but don't know shit about the Neptunes.

At the beginning. Pharrell said Chad is “unafraid”. Bingo. This is what made them special. While so many other rappers like 50 cent were out there trying to conform to a wave of tough guy Gangsta rap. The neptunes did what sounded fresh and nerdy (pardon the pun). The alt-rock skate aesthetic was a crossover that was rare at the time but now common place.

Grindin beat was legendary. Everybody used make that beat on a lunchtable. Superthug was crazy, also Kelis “Get along wit you”. They were always my favorite producers.

That Mase song was their first major hit but their first placement was r&b song called Use Your Heart by SWV. That song is timeless
