Steve, These definitely make signal installation a whole lot easier. Thanks for the detailed look at these cool signals . I see you noted that there is a way the IR sensors can be located at bit further away from the signals. Thanks for the link also. Have a Happy July4th.

Hey there! I absolutely love what you do! I especially love your n scale mini layouts, I always thought that it was impossible for me to start model railroading since it is expensive and in my mind I thought it had to be big and long and accurate, but I am inspired by your videos! I now know that I can create model railroads on a mini base. I wanted to reach out to you to help me with my future layout, could you do a model railroad mini layout such as a 2x3 on the old west? How would I do red rocks and hoodoos and how would I model the western part of the states, I live in the west so this is what I would like to model. If you could consider doing a video on this, that would help me out so much. Since n scale is not as popular as HO scale, your videos have given me the ideas that I need. Thank You!

I’ll see about doing that kind of landscape some time. I have a bunch of other projects coming up but maybe sometime next year I can try something like that.

they do like easy enough. and nice to look at as well.. Is there a way to disconnect the circuit board so you don't have to drill such a big hole under them.
@StevesTrains

The IR LEDs are connected directly to the circuit board, however I realized too late that there is actually a long set of wires between the board and the signal itself which are just wrapped around the board so you can cut the base between the board and signal and move the board and LEDs farther away from the signal if you want. Maybe 6” or so without adding extension wires.

I'm considering these myself. Is the 3 light signal reversible, i.e. can they be mounted on the left of the track? Will the signal stand turn 180 degrees on the base?

I was wondering about that. No it won’t, but it realized after installing that you can cut the base between the signal and LEDs/circuit board and move that part a few inches away since there is excess wire that is just wrapped around the circuit board. So you could cut the base between the two and then flip one side around so you could have on the left side of the track.

From Radio Shack like 15+ years ago I think. However, I just ordered several more of these from Amazon yesterday that are similar: amzn.to/3qyMxB7

How long did you have to wait between the order and delivery? I order 3 signals on July 4th and got the receipt with "we'll let you know when they ship" type message. After a month went by with nothing further I've tried emailing the addresses on the website and one listed on Paypal, that was a week ago and I still haven't heard or received anything.

So the first order came in a couple of weeks. The second one I ordered third week of June and it didn’t arrive until last week. They said they were way behind on orders because of supply shortages (maybe the circuit boards?). So, if your order was a couple of weeks after my last one, perhaps yours will ship in a week or so.

@@StevesTrains It's been eight and half weeks since I ordered 3 signals. Not a peep from Z stuff, after a month I tried 2 different email addresses listed to them, plus the website's direct email contact and the website "chat" all without response, so it's now a open dispute through paypal. It looks like I'll use the Kato signals instead, which once I've switched over to metal wheels on the rolling stock will work the same and at half the price (which will go a long way to offsetting the cost of the metal wheels), luckily I have glued the track down yet.

Kato should have full sets, locomotive, cars, track and power pack. Reliable stuff that works right without messing about.

Something fishy at z stuff. I ordered two signals early last month and paid direct. Tab was a hair over $100. No product to date. E-mails aren't answered and the phone must be set on busy.

Sorry you have been having issues with them. I received a second order a few weeks back that I had placed in June. It took about two months. I also had a hard time getting a hold of them but eventually did get a response from Susan there and she noted supply chain issues. But communication does seem to be problematic with them.
