Both have a great advantage. Tracks. So been in deep snow and they float and then be gentle at the same time. Tracks unfortunately can’t get you to the wheeling area if it’s on public roads. Big rigs big tires can get you to the wheeling area and take you home. But. Big tires also depend on horse power. The weight of the vehicle. So. Both in my opinion are awesome. Choose correctly for your riding area and adventures. Tried to general about this. My comment would have been 9 pages long if I was doing a full review. Keep wheeling everyone. Best adventures you’ll have. IMO. And where you’re wheeling is one of the best snow places in North America.

One thing which might help you, besides big tires or chains, and I'm always curious why so few people use is portal axles. Stop trying to push (plow) your diff and whole axle assembly through snow/mud and get extra inches of clearance. Have a look to some 70'-80' designs of military vehicles like Tatra 805, Volvo TGB, Pinzgauer from Steyer&Puch, Unimog .. they all got extra clearance via portal axles, not via ridiculously big tires (and so huge mass to spin).

Some 6:26 depicts it nicely as big tires green Jeep tries to run where tracked one effortlessly crawled through minute ago. Both has pros and cons and are suitable for different use. But in deep snow I'd bet on tracks. Regardless I do not really like those with relatively sharp front edges due to small dia front rollers.

What ever happened to tall skinny tires for deep snow? I have always thought that was the best way to go.
@melshingleton7865

Skinny is good if the tire can reach the solid surface below. In this case,. That snow can be 5' deep, skinny tires just won't work. Hence the large, wide floatation tires.

@@melshingleton7865 👍 As long as you have enough “Paddle” and torque to keep moving fast enough and stay on top, then you are 100% correct. Otherwise ground pressure beat float in snow, every time.
