Many people I know called my 2016 MX-5 Club soft top a hairdressers car. Of course they never drove a Miata so they don't know how they drive. You are right with that Auto-X or tracking assessment. Really an inexpensive car to get into motorsports. Cheap to maintain & definitely plenty of nice high quality after market parts to make the car how you like it without breaking the bank. Really a fun car to drive & that is what makes it great.

I completely agree with what you're saying and it's why I decided to trade my 370Z for an RF MX5, but I also messed up and got the Z in an auto due to worrying about clutch issues I'd read about with the Z. Never again will I get a drivers car in an auto, even if the auto is 'faster than the manual'. I just love driving manuals, don't care if autos are faster.

And this video just confirmed my decision between a loaded 2024 gt and a ND2 Miata. The fact it's about 20k cheaper plus cheaper gas and oil changes and tires and suspension and wheels and just about everything it's definitely the right choice. Sure they don't sound as good but that alone will keep the cops off your back. Miata is always the answer. I owned a na Miata for years and I can't wait to drive and buy a ND2 they seem well improved from what I've seen and the na was my favorite car that I've ever owned I'd have the top down in any weather and I loved zero blind spots and unlimited parking access

I'm in the boat of getting rid of my motorcycles. Everyone is on the phone these days and not paying attention. The Mazda seems like the closest thing on 4 wheels. Also, my 1976 Honda CB550 is a blast to ride at full throttle. I rap out the gears and look down to see I'm going 60mph. 🤣 I imaging it's a similar feeling in the Mazda. I have the same color, it is called polymetal gray. BTW I traded in a Kia Stinger so I know about going from fast to not so fast. I agree it's hard to have fun with a powerful car. For me I was afraid that I'd lose my license. It was so easy to go fast. A few times on the highway I'd hop into the middle lane to blast past a car that wouldn't move over only to glance down and realize I was doing 120

Hi Tom, lol - I know that feeling about hitting too-fast speeds too easily in a fast car! In New England, there are just so few places to do that safely, go HPDE track day or keep the ponies corralled or break the law, those are you options. What you say is true - the fun is in winding it out, pushing redline, and snapping off a quick, perfect shift. The Miata is great fun and quick enough for everyday thrills. I'm looking forward to taking it autocrossing in April. Track days are also in my future, again, with this car. Enjoy your Miata - hope to see you on the road sometime!

Hey man I’m sorta in the same boat. I have a ‘21 Mazda 6 Carbon edition. Good practical car and all, but lately I’ve really been thinking abt trading it in for a Miata. I’m 22 and single, and I don’t rly need the space of a large sedan. A little miata looks so fun and enticing. But I also can’t decide if it’s worth losing the practicality in the long run. Also, I don’t know how to drive manual yet, but I really wanna learn. I live in Seattle where it’s rather hilly and rainy, so not the best place to learn on a new car lol. Anyways, any advice? Any regrets on trading in ur sedan for a little convertible? Or was it worth it haha
@BN99239
2 жыл бұрын
@@HisMajesty99 Definitely worth it. It's better to take advantage of owning this car while you're young. As you get older, practicality becomes more important. Once you find your significant other, possibly settling down and having a family, chances are they won't let you get a Miata. However, if you already have one before you start dating and getting serious, they can't say no! As for learning. As long as you have a park or big, empty parking lot. You can always practice. The ND Miatas are among the easiest to learn in.

I've driven multiple Mustangs (GT and non-GT) over the years. The 2013+ Mustangs mark some great cars, the Bullitt even moreso. Just consider your driving habits and whether you can truly take advantage of the power and speed of the Mustang to truly enjoy what it's capable of. For me, most the Mustang's capabilities were inaccessible on the street - it's just too capable, imo. The Miata gives you a sense of using everything the car has at much lower speeds and is ultimately, very fun.

@@SoZenGadgets Thanks for the reply. I don't have one yet so I'm torn on whether to get the GT or the Club. Currently in my location the Club is special order only. What comes to the dealerships is the Sport and Grand Touring only. The GT does have more features but limits the colors. As far as the RF vs Soft top, I'm torn again, I probably will never track the car and the looks of the RF is awesome but I'm concerned about the B pillow blind spots and wind buffeting some has reported at certain speeds. The soft top is more open, less cost, a little lighter, quick open and close but has its drawbacks too, mainly top up noise, security, and maintenance. I never owned a convertible. I can imagine cleaning bird crap off the top and seats if he gets you with the top down..🙄😂 Decisions decisions.🤔 I've drove a NB Miata soft top and loved it.
