Even though in this scene Coleman looks like he's going along with the Dukes, you can notice how much Coleman really didn't want to be part of the Dukes' scheme, such as after first hearing about it on the phone, and then hanging up and muttering "what scumbags". And the pained look on his face when then saying goodnight to Winthorp and Penelope, since he knew what the Dukes were about to do to Winthorp but Winthorp had no idea yet. And then the scene where he refuses to let Winthorp into his home pretending he doesn't know him, obviously only doing it because he was afraid the Dukes would fire him if he didn't do that. By later in the film when Winthorp almost died as a result of what the Dukes did to him, Coleman was beyond worrying about his job anymore, welcomed Winthorp back, and was just as willing as him to seek revenge on the Dukes

my best scene of trading places. I can't cease watching through the years. It reveals the long-term effects of oppression and colonialism on the psyche. Physically alright, but the mind and thoughts are so damaged to think of survival (You better grasp it all now, you won't find it tomorrow). Thinking about Africans especially when they get into political positions.
