Traditional arrow build. Without any traditional parts or methods. Well done.

Feel free to make a video response. I have started to love this whole arrow making thing. I am turkey hunting this weekend and will harvest the feathers to make my next set with the natural feathers, using a chopper. Glad you like the videos.

Looks like they are using a BearPaw fletching jig. Available with a right, left, or straight clamp. Great jig, btw.

I don't know what size to use. There are standards in field point size for different size shafts, check out online stores. They should point you in the right direction.

Why cedar shafts rather than a different material?

Cedar are the old standard for arrow shafts. Most likely the trees in the northwest produce good lumber for arrows, so every 1/10 trees can be used compared to 1/100. A similar idea applies to guitars Cedar is easy to hand straighten and dye. However the arrows also break easily compared to Douglas fir or ash. Each species of wood have their ups and downs, cedar is a good beginner's shafting material.
