27:01 Sis the Pomelo is also know as Jambura in bangali. You can make a really nice satni out of this fruit with roasted garlic chopped fresh coriander and chilli flakes with drizzle of mustard oil and salt before makhani. Do try it. You will love it 😘

Sylheti parents say “Zambura” , sounds like the word spanner to me😂. But yes fruitsatnee is good, they make it with a a mix of sweet and sour green apples , or mango too. I think mango is my favourite one . But have you tried the Thai version of satnees? They call it a fruit salad , but I think most banglas would like those too! It’s very similar and done with pomelos you can also find it with other fruits

@@luluah1198 there are different dialects and pronunciations in sylhet. My family (both sides) are from sylhet town and say “jambura” I don’t understand why people get in to semantics… You say tomato I say “tomayto” it’s the same thing.
@luluah1198

@@sassykarachi well semantics are interesting. As a child I didn’t know bangla people spoke different according to region . So when my sister got married I heard her in laws saying certain words really strangely. But I don’t have a problem with it. It can be a bit amusing sometimes , but a good learning experience too. Ps British ppl never say tamayto now that would be funny to hear 😂

Oh em gee, I live in south Yorkshire and my kids and I have been ill too, but I've had it worse, my throat has white spots and unfortunately it's a sign of Bacterial tonsillitis and just went to the doctors today and they prescribed antibiotics. My throat hurts so much and my body has been in constant pain and feeling weak. In shaa Allaah, hopefully I'll be on the road to recovery

Adding any kind of flour to Dali bora will stop them from becoming crispy , i used to add flour, now I blend the lentils without water and then add the other ingredient without flour and they come out so yummy and crunchy 😋
@luluah1198
4 ай бұрын
I agree! Or it makes them too crunchy. Some ppl add rice flour to bind water in daal. They can go rock hard even with a tbsp 😂 My mum used to add tiny bit of plain flour if it was watery, it doesn’t make it hard . But I’ve mastered the recipe, written it down . So I don’t add any flours either, not necessary, just be careful with water if any is required. And contrary to what many say red lentils and other small lentils don’t need to be soaked overnight, 4 hours minimum un boiling water does the trick. Chana daal takes longer though, I don’t risk it with that one, soak overnight

May Allah grant you and your children good health xxx Why do banglas wash the bay leaves for kichuri, but not when added to a curry? I can’t see the logic behind it. I mean it’s clean enough to add to curry, and can’t be added washed because it will be wet , and yes sizzle in the face 😂 But for kichuri it’s dirty? I used to argue this point with my mother . But she simply told me to shut up and do as she said, so I obliged 😂 Ps I think the red pomelos when ripe taste better . I use my son to separate it all , he likes to show off his skills, so I pretend I don’t know how ;)
