The MK4 went on sale , August '76! In a few months they'd be everywhere & yet it's predecessor the MK3 was still common till around 1987.

The yellow Renault at 1:04 is RLA 632R - which DVLA vehicle check shows as being registered on 17th November 1976. I'm thinking this might be mid-afternoon in the winter, just as the sun is beginning to set. If it was well into 1977 you'd expect to see a lot more R-plated cars. And I'm just not seeing any.

RLA 632R (the yellow Renault) at 1:04 was the newest plate I can read and it was registered on 17th November 1976. Given the lighting conditions I'm thinking this may have been towards the winter of 1976, mid-afternoon towards sunset. I'm not really seeing any other R-registered vehicles, which you would expect to see plenty of if this was filmed going into 1977.

This clip dates from no earlier than November 1976. You can tell by RLA 632R at 1:04, the yellow Renault. Registered on 17th November 1976 and its tax has been expired since April 1988.

Wow, when the A40(M) used to have streetlights on it. The shiny one on the left looks like a thorn alpha 3. The central lights were Phillips SRP254 (some people know them as midland lights).

Can anybody tell me what those funny little lights are on the front of cars that keep on flashing? I think it's to do with those silly stick things behind the steering wheel, and they somehow get knocked by mistake half way round a roundabout and that brings them on.

You must be talking about a 1940s designed Morris Minor 😀, because most modest British cars from the mid 60s onwards could achieve top speeds of 80 to 100 mph, easily, disc front brakes & in some cars for example Ford Zephyr, Jag XJ6, Rover 2000 & Volvo had discs all round! Many cars like Escorts, BMC 1100/1300 /1800, Hillman's & Cortinas had excellent handling , road holding & radial tyres

Well, at least you could recognise different makes and models and there was more colours. They only look small back then because modern cars have put on more and more bulk due to ever stringent crash protection requirements. Most cars look alike now, especially these grey electric things.
