The 1100 yards is the average best case scenario listed for other LoRa devices, but a LOT of that is based on having a quality omnidirectional antenna. I wonder if they are just quoting LoRa industry standards and cheaped out on antenna quality. If the antennas are swap-able with standard third party stuff, upgrading would probably solve your problem. There are even directional antennas on the market that would DRASTICALLY improve range when pointed in the correct direction. LoRa is an amazing communications platform, and I hope other manufacturers jump on board with its use. Hate to hear that this first deployment of it shows less than ideal results.

In my real world use I was getting less than 100 yards between the remote and base. That's with the home on the highest part of my property using the Covert booster antenna with 0 obstructions between remote and base. There were also over 40 images on the remotes that were never sent to the base.

Something doesn't seem right. I have mine out and they are all close to a quarter mile away from the base without the booster antenna. The worst reception was showing about 14% on the camera. I would contact their customer service, they have always been helpful when I have an issue.

@@workingclasshuntertv Myself and a couple others on the Covert forum had the same issues. We did everything Covert CS asked and nothing got the system working as it should. Everyone I knew that bought them returned them to Covert for a refund. Too bad because it's a good system in theory but Covert is just using the same tech Cuddeback has had out for a few years.

You are correct. They are junk. I watched the 3 videos that are out for the covert system, and they looked perfect for my situation. You would think more videos would be available. My deer stand is 15 feet up and I have an external battery along with a solar panel all mounted to the stand and the external antenna mounted another 15 feet above that. It's the AT&T version. I can watch videos on my phone and make calls, so reception is fine. My cameras are less than 200 yards each from the base with zero obstruction. I can never get all 3 cameras to send pictures to the base. They seem to disconnect. I Drive an hour to check them, reset, test drive home and get pics from one camera. Poor quality night pics and day is not very clear. My cuddy camera is much better. I have wasted 2 months now trying to fine tune these. Around a thousand into this system and not happy at all. Just try and find a page you can leave reviews. They don't exist. Scheels said they won't sell Covert. I see why.

Same for me. I used antenna 20ft up a tree on the highest point of my property and lucky to get 100yards. As bad as the reception is tho, battery drain is a far bigger problem. On the slowest send and sample time - I’m lucky to get 3 weeks on Lithium Ions which would cost a fortune seasonally, so I converted at great expenses to recharge-able adding solar and 12v battery backup (and it STILL doesn’t maintain base station more than 2 weeks). I have an old $50 trail cam out on the property with my $1,000 cellular system and wouldn’t ya know, battery lasts 6 months and it takes better pics. For $1,000 I could have 20 of them all over the place, and I’d do heck of a lot less bill paying, walking, climbing, battery changing and troubleshooting.

Have had nothing but trouble out of these cameras. Batteries don’t last long. And can’t get one of the cameras to take pictures at all.

Buckeye and Cuddelink both daisy chain and have been on the market for years already.

I told Covert I would help them advertise. Base unit was shutting down a few hours after I walked away from it. Had to drive 2 hrs unplug the battery plug it back in and repeat this cycle until the off-season. Using it as a trail cam and also for trespassers. Sent in the base and they sent me a replacement quick turn around. The replacement out of the box will not upload to app. Currently 12 hrs fighting with linking. Covert refuses to believe it's the base. 35 emails later and trying to get a return authorization. Stay away from this system. I have $1200 into it and will probably sell it for 300. Would like to see this video a year after actual use.

Are you able to retrieve all of the pictures taken by all cameras off the base unit SD card? Its nice to have a hard copy of all pics too.

Hard to trust someone who won't look you in the eye.. er' camera. Comes off as super shifty. No disrespect. I know it's where your Q-cards are. Of course Q-cards are a must. But it is still freaky. I though you were maybe stroking out? Just saying. Still a solid thumbs-up. Cheers!

How have these cameras been working for you! Looking at purchasing a set.

Overall pretty good. I would highly recommend pairing the solar charger with the base unit and I would also recommend setting the base to request the images on one of the interval options. If you leave it set to real time, it eats batteries quickly. Depending on your terrain, the transmission distance listed may or may not be achievable. You will want to make sure to mount the base unit in a central location to your cameras, mount it pretty high or use the included booster antenna. They do save me a ton of money on monthly cellular service charges compared to the same number of individual cellular trail camera.

Is the base a camera or only a transmitter
@louispaffel9646

Base is just a transmitter, receives the images then sends them to your app.
