What most people did not notice is how smoothly these guys were riding. When watching other videos, the riders are not as smooth and fluid in their movements. These guys were like a school of fish.

I don't know about that, if they were being smooth you wouldn't see such abrupt take offs and slow downs and there were plenty of 3 point turns being made, not holding their lines.

Living near The Dragon, people don’t know how little top speed you can get up to, so small, lightweight bikes with short gearing will catch even all but the top of the expert category on even a liter bike. On average, more powerful dual sports and super motos are the fastest bikes to take on a Dragon run. You can build a lot of speed on the Cherohala, and that’s a different story, but just the Dragon, little bikes with short gearing are usually the fastest if the rider knows what s/he’s doing.

That's a bunch of garbage. With a sport bike, they just need to keep the revs up where the torque/power is and they will smoke these super motos and dual sports. All you have to do is look at race track times and sport bikes are always on top at every single track.

Good video, I don't have the bike for riding like that.( bmw k1300s) but its also the reason why I will only ride the dragon on a weekday better chance of not having to share the road with big groups like these guys.

I’m really thinking about a DRZ or a 690/701 because I’m a bigger guy. I 280lbs on the DRZ might be too much but any input would be appreciated. Great vid

Go for the drz it's more affordable than the KTM 690 (looked into that a while back) and at my heaviest I was 250 and have had my drz off road, jumped small hills, topped at 86mph on stock gearing, and since 2013 I've put this bike through extensive hell and a couple of crashes and only just recently had to replace the head (only half my fault I overtightened the sparkplug and wore out the threads and the guy I took it to put a helix coil in and did a terrible job on it so I had to replace it)

How do you brake on a SuperMoto when riding like this? Is it front or back?

@@JonTheOutdoorsman So you ride? and you've ridden SuperMoto? On the Tail of the Dragon? Sport bikes you typically use the front and cruisers the back so again...I'm wondering how you brake one of these on this type of ride.
@JonTheOutdoorsman
Жыл бұрын
@@Harley_2023_richieg yes I ride a supermoto. Never been on the dragons tail but rule of thumb is, straight line you use 70% front 30% rear. When youre in a curve, both brakes but heavier in the rear so you dont lock the front and crash. Handle bars turned, all rear. Thats for every bike. I don't see why cruisers would only use rear brake as the front brakes make up 70-80% of your stopping power. Plus you'll skid out in case of emergency

A bunch of squids riding each others butts so that if one goes down, they all go down. These are the kind of fools I stay away from so I dont get involved in their crash. Also the reason I ride solo.
