Great stuff, Sandy, thanks. It’s these small adjustments that make so much difference, just shortening the volley here and taking off some power for example. This video also demonstrates why, for me, padel is so addictive - unlike tennis, the walls make it almost like a game of chess, teasing and probing for opportunities, being patient and not just blasting ball at every opportunity! We have a tourneo coming up this weekend, looking forward to (trying to) put this volley-work into practice!

Hi Sandy. Thanks a lot for the great video! I liked that you applied the learnings in an actual match. That made it much more practical. The only thing that I am wondering about is that I felt you overused the glass which made this a bit harder for you in some of the balls, I thought it would have been much easier to take it before the glass. When I apply these kind of soft short volleys to my opponents, they tend to easily take it before the glass which defeats what intended to do. What do you think?

I had a question around elbow technique. I am getting taught in Spain and in my 1-1 classes I havent really asked for Volley improvement so much because its one of my stronger strokes. However now my coach has seen my volleys he's basically asked me to recontrsuct my volley technique completely differently and prepare with arms straight (almost like a robot) and then on both forehand and backhand you take the arms back with straight arms to the prepare position and then push from up to down with a straight arm technique. In these volley videos and others I've seen everyone's arms are quite bent. It does seem like a good technique and you achieve much more slice with the arms straight but its quite difficult to change the technique.

Great question - we'd have to see your volley technique to help. On our online platform players can send us clips of their technique and we provide feedback to them. We are running a 7 day free trial here: pulse.ly/5vx5bhzl1p
