I stayed there a few times in early 2000s. When the Greeks took over and turned it into a burger bar I gave it up.

I stayed there a number of years ago with some work colleagues, in fact they were erecting the cables for electrification, at the time, a real railway buffs treat.

Anyone know why the LNER 800's run on the rear pan, but GWR run on the front? I've asked this question several times but no one seems to know! Thanks for the video by the way. Stayed at The Sidings in the 80's when the wires were going up and the bridge was being raised to accommodate.

You don’t actually have to stay there to do some spotting, it’s also a restaurant

I've stayed here under previous owners and had an afternoon snack visit since. Its less train fan now, less memorabilia around, and the coaches could do with a bit of a refurb, but it's still fun. Just as you can see in vid you are shooting into the sun most of the day.

I get the distinct impression that not as many LNER services run all the way up to Aberdeen now as what used to be the case. You still have some XC services and a regular Scotrail service both from Edinburgh and Glasgow serving the Granite City.

There aren’t as many now although it was a day before a strike when I filmed this so some were cancelled

@@Electrarailfan91119 you are right because in the days of Virgin XC, National Express (ECML) and GNER nearly all the services that went to Edinburgh Waverley would continue on up to Aberdeen and only about 20% would terminate at the Scottish capital. However these days it looks as if Aberdeen is only really getting about 30 or 40% of the services with the majority now terminating at Auld Reekie aka Edinburgh - sad really. But fortunately Scotrail offer a pretty decent service for those wanting to go to the Granite City (Aberdeen) or the City of Discovery (Dundee).

Yes, scotrail do operate more services there now and some parts of the line are single, so if LNER were to operate more services to Aberdeen or Dundee they would be stuck at a few red lights 😂

Morning shots are better when sun is out, to much shadow in afternoons.
