In this video, for my first stop of the day in my August 6th London trip, I visit Herne Hill, on The Chatham Mainline.
Herne Hill is a Southeastern operated station, which has 4 platforms, and is also served by Thameslink services to Sutton and St Albans.
The station is two stops out of London Victoria, and the three letter station code for Herne Hill, is HNH.
Herne Hill was opened on 25 of August 1862 by the London, Chatham, and Dover Railway.
The only service that ran out of Herne Hill was to Victoria, but in 1869, services began to run to Kent, and even Kings Cross, including a express services down to Dover Harbour.
