Following on from my previous video of trains at Norwood Fork we turn our attention to Norwood Junction station which is a little to the north of the fork. Opened by the London and Croydon and named Jolly Sailor after the local pub, the station was served only by L&C trains with London & Brighton and South Eastern Railway trains passing through without stopping.
The modern service is much the same with only some Thameslink services calling in addition to the local suburban routes.
Network Rail have proposed a major redevelopment of the station as part of the reorganisation of Windmill Bridge Junction and the Selhurst Triangle site. Only time will tell what eventually happens.
The clips were filmed on a Sunday when engineering work on the East London Line meant that there were no London Overground services running here. On the other hand Southeastern services from Hastings were passing through due to closure of their usual route north of Tonbridge.
