An excellent afternoon spent at Welwyn Garden City on the East Coast Mainline where we see countless services from London Northeastern Railway, Thameslink, Great Northern, Hull Trains and Grand Central.
Welwyn Garden City was built in 1858 but it wasn't officially known as Welwyn Garden City, it was first known as Welwyn Junction to coincide with the completion or the Hertford and Welwyn Junction railway. This station ceased its operations on September 1st 1860.
After a long spell of not having any work a new halt was constructed in 1920 and it was called Welwyn Garden City Halt, this was done shortly after the city itself was incorporated, Welwyn Garden City Halt was finally closed in 1926 when the present station was constructed. It's undergone several minor change over the years but roughly still stays the same.
My next station is going to be Exeter St Davids.
