[Watch in HD] Three Norfolk Southern trains tonight blast through the Rock Springs Road crossing, also known as Knights (which was the site of Knights Coal Company, where a stub track still remains here that led to the mine). I hope you enjoy this vid!
Train #1: NS 21T (Harrisburg, PA - Kansas City, MO) is up first with conductor Jeff Donnelly. BEAUTIFUL sounding RS3L, one of the best horns I've heard lately. Taken at about 8:20 p.m.
NS/Conrail C40-8W 8373
NS ES40DC 7500
Train #2: An empty Herzog ballast train heads out next. Since the economy is recovering from 2008, Norfolk Southern's Dash 8-40Cs and Dash 9-40Cs are now being pulled out of storage, so it was nice to see the latter third out on this train. Taken at 8:30 p.m.
NS C40-9W 8901
NS C40-9W 9861
NS C40-9 8789
Train #3: NS 267 (Fort Wayne, IN - Kansas City, MO [BNSF]) brings up the end of the "parade" with conductor Jason O'Brien and a TripleCrown RoadRailer train in tow. Taken at 8:45 p.m.
