So I picked up a new brolly system, I was wanting something that I could comfortably turn from day shelter into a bivvy for solo overnight missions, this winter looks to be one where I will be solo overnight fishing so there isn’t any need to load the van with spare bedchairs and the massive JRC Quad XXL bivvy. My Old day shelter brolly the JRC STI 2 Rib Brolly is showing its age, don’t get me wrong it is a great shelter when I was using a smaller chair that sat lower down to the ground I could hunker down inside it and let the worst of the winter storms pass me by but with a new chair putting me higher up meant that my head was touching the skin of the brolly and then with one of the Ribs smashing last winter I figured lets look around for something else.
I settled on the Trakker Tempest 100T Brolly, things I liked off the bat was how easy it was to put up and that even with the chair I have I had bags of headroom inside it. I zipped on the front panel and put the storm pole in to see what it would look like as a overnight brolly/bivvy I didn’t put the ground sheet in or the overwrap on it mostly because I was being a bit lazy but initial thoughts are positive, even if the mini condoms on the pegs made me chuckle a bit.
Only time will tell if it is up to the job, lets see what a winters Pike fishing does to it.
