Nicely designed, beautiful tram. Love that the tram is not marred by business ads, like some of the trams in other cities and countries of Europe. In addition, it's good to see that it is well-used by the citizens of Dublin. Appreciate the video, thank you. However, would appreciate it if you could video the tram route itself, either from the front or rear, so one can note the route the tram navigates. It would make for a very interesting video, instead of just noting tram stations as the tram enters and leaves. Nevertheless, thanks again.

On the contrary, the tram's exterior is often completely covered with an ad e.g. investec.

mjakes20 Sad to learn of this, for the video doesn't illustrate such. The color scheme for the tram is excellent, complimented with green-tinted windows. The night view of the tram clearly shows it's beauty. To mar the appearance of the tram by business ads, blurring the windows, would be a major detraction from it's original design. Know that transportation systems are always looking to generate revenue with bus. ads as a reliable source of such. However, per Wiki' the Dublin Luas trams enjoys a ridership of over 83k passengers a day, translating to 30.5 mil. a year! If those figures are true, that's a very large return on the investment in the tram system, negating the use of ads that mar the tram's design. Yet, I know that's not realistic in today's business world, unfortunately. Thank you for that tidbit of info.

valtrus That said however, at any given time the vast majority of the trams will still retain their signature design. If those advertisements are a small price to pay for the upkeep of Dublin's only functioning public transport medium, I have no complaints. I use the Green Line daily, which for the most part runs on an old railway line ergo is faster than the Red Line which is often not segregated from roads. The Green Line also has newer trams, which I prefer to those of the Red Line. Lastly, there is a much lower prevalence of anti-social behaviour and road accidents on the Green Line than the Red. All in all, the Luas is a frequent, clean, and efficient tram system whose operation is streets ahead of that of Dublin Bus and the DART.

mjakes20 Of course the ads don't alter the design of the tram, it just mars and detracts from it's original appearance, which, as stated, is a well-designed, color-coordinated tram. It's just something that I dislike, while others may think it's insignificant, as you do, apparently, which is all right. Regarding upkeep, the system is clearly supported by the extensive ridership, as noted in the video, where one can see that the trams are operating at near capacity, capacity, to standing room only in some instances, save for late night. The fares generated from 83k riders a day for light rail, imo, would be more than enough to keep the system running smoothly w/o ads. By the ridership one can see that the citizens of Dublin appreciates the Luas system, just as you indicate and I note from afar (States). Re uncivil behavior, well, what can one say nowadays. Yet, noticed in the video that the tram went down a rough-looking street with bars on the windows of bldgs. Is that the Red Line you're referring to? Nevertheless, a video of both tram routes would be nice, so that one can get an idea of the city of Dublin. Maybe, "bercinicity" can film another excellent, beautiful video of both tram routes in toto so one can gain a partial glimpse of the communities and business districts along the routes, as other tram videos in Europe, like Athens, Greece, Marseilles, France and Nottingham, England amongst others, for example.
