The percussion is such a fundamental part of dance music but its complexity and intricacy is often overlooked. Without a good groove, dance music wouldn't be dance music. This is an amazing tutorial that can extend into many other genres of music.

I know that this probably isn't the biggest takeaway people will get from the video 😂 But not having the samples listed in order is actually genius as you are 100% right that you will always scroll through the first 20 loops and never explore beyond that. Doing that from now on

Hi Adam; have your percussion layers evolved over the years? I notice trance now is quite simplistic; percussion loop, clap, high hat and often that’s it
@adamellistutorials
2 ай бұрын
I’d say it’s less complicated as it really doesn’t need to be anything but simple. For me, what I’ve done in this video is simple and extremely effective. You just don’t need anymore. 😊

Very important to have different sounding percussion loops like adam does here- its a pointless waste of precious headroom where you need to fill in the entire frequency band whilst ensuring the kick and sub is loud enough when you try in vain to stack 3 shaker loops where 1 is more than enough. Have 1 shaker loop, 1 hi hat loop, 1 lower synth-y groove and 1 mid range groove with a lot of toms and short synth stabs.
@adamellistutorials

Exactly, Eugene! Less is often more when it comes to percussion.

On another note; I use to be so warry of the channel loudness. As long as it’s not peaking do you ignore the numbers and just use your ears like me?
@adamellistutorials

I get stressed when it goes near the top. So I use a limiter. lol
@djcarlosdematos

@@adamellistutorialsso you ignore the loudness and just ensure the sound is coming through the mix?
