I think I figured out the "TIMER ON" and "TIMER OFF" features. Pushing either one of those buttons will let you activate, deactivate and set time for TIMER ON and TIMER OFF respectively. In other words, the remote will turn the system ON automatically at the TIMER ON set time and turn it off at the TIMER OFF set time (if both are enabled). If it was previously activated, pressing TIMER ON/OFF will deactivate TIMER ON or OFF respectively. You can tell that TIMER ON or TIMER OFF are enabled by seeing the "ON" and/or "OFF" on the right side of the time. Pushing it again (or the first press if it was already deactivated) will put it in set time mode for TIMER ON/OFF with the clock disappearing and either "ON" or "OFF" blinking on the right side. Use up and down arrows to set ON or OFF times and press TIMER ON/OFF within 5 seconds to accept it (otherwise it will auto cancel). It will also enable TIMER ON/OFF. It's easier to understand if you play around with it. One very important thing to remember however: The timer ON and OFF feature appears to be controlled entirely by the remote itself and not simply programmed into the unit it controls for it to do it on its own. This means that the remote MUST remain in such a way that it can transmit its signal to the unit it controls otherwise it will not work.

Thanks for the explanation. I have a question for you Earl Heath (or anyone with that kind of trane remote.). Would you know what does the "WiFi" thing do on the remote? I found many smart apps that has the name and icon of the Trane company, and I especially found on my google home app that it's compatible with a device that's with Trane. But I'm not sure if that icon really means Wifi where you connect it to the internet. (Answers from anyone is always appreciated.)

Agreement with everyone ! The worst directions and no help. So thanks! I love my mini-split. The unit is in a basement apartment so my main concern, summer and winter, is humidity. There are 3 mentions of the DRY function in the directions, mainly to say it exists. Does anyone know if I can use it to lower humidity only? and in which mode? Currently (rainy spring) I'm setting the heat up high, but surely there's a lower energy mode to do it. I mean the DRY function does exist!

It's a wireless remote that tells the wall unit what the temperature is around the remote when "I FEEL" is on - the little "iF" icon shows at top left on remote display. Press "TEMP" button until you see little house with thermometer inside on remote display, you'll then see the wall unit display a different temperature for a few seconds before it reverts back to set temperature (unless remote ambient temperature is at set temperature). - My best guess.

Earl can you explain why cool should be higher than heat? And when I press x-fan I see no change in the remote. How do I set that?
@Earlvis
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie! It’s been a few years since I’ve started up one of these and I don’t remember much about it. I made the video after trial and error with the remote and probably didn’t quite cover every detail. So to change gears-Cooling setpoints always have to be higher than Heating setpoints when a thermostat is of the auto-changeover type. Auto-changeover works like this; let’s say the cool setpoint is 74 and the heat setpoint is 70. If the room temperature goes above 74, the thermostat knows it needs to go into cooling mode and run to maintain 74. Let’s say a cold front blows through and the room temperature drops below 70 degrees, the thermostat knows it’s cold and it needs to changeover to heating mode and will run to maintain 70 degrees. If the room temperature is between 70 and 74, the unit is idle and said to be satisfied.The thermostat logic will become confused if the heating setpoint is higher than the cooling setpoint and not run properly. Most humans have a comfort temperature around 74 degrees in warm weather and a comfort temperature of around 70 degrees in cold weather. This is why thermostat logic is programmed by the manufacturers to operate this way.
