Going to the bathroom around people is always so strange. I'm a 12 year old trans boy and most people know me as a girl. But only a few people know im trans. So whenever I go to the bathroom, either some random person freaks out cause they're like "a boy in the girls bathroom ahh" or somebody that i know is around and i have to use the bathroom and they just watch me while i look uncomfortable walking into the girls bathroom. And when i have a username or character or something and it has something to do with "boy" some people ask like "why did you make a boy" "why do you wear boy clothes" and today, somebody saw one of my usernames (monkeyboy221271) and said "boy? your not a boy youre a girl!" and my entire life is just so confusing anyway why is gender dysphoria and stuff just HAVE to be in my life? OK what you are going through is what some people go through if they don't want to conform to the typical gender roles or expression, it could just be that you are a tom boy or a girl who likes to dress in more masculine ways which is perfectly fine and people are just being judgy and not nice if they make fun of what you are wearing. But saying you're trans or gay is not going to help your cause because you shouldn't pretend to be something that you're not. My advice is to just ignore them or tell them that you like wearing these clothes and its none of their business. There are a lot of cis gendered people who like wearing clothes that are not typical of their gender i watched a buzz feed video recently that had cis males who liked wearing typical feminine things but identified as make and cis gendered women who liked wearing typical masculine things but identified as female. Clothes don't have gender its just what society thinks when it all comes down to it. Wear and express the way you want, there is no such thing as the fashion police lol. Hope this helps a bit.

Someone has probably mentioned this but if you have a smart phone then you can download an app called 'refuge restroom' that plots all the neutral/unisex/trans friendly toilets close to you. It'll vary from area to area but works well where I am. I've also found that I get more hassle in the womens than the mens, I think this is mostly because guys pay no attention, they don't look at you so they don't notice, and if they do generally don't care, whereas women tend to pay more attention to other people who are using the toilets. But you've got to be safe first before anything else!

I have had gas station owners get mad at me for using the wrong single toilet bathroom... Why do they care about single toilet bathrooms anyway? Idk. Why do people care so much about what bathroom I'm in? I just wanna potty. People care too much. Bless gender neutral bathrooms. All bathrooms should be gender neutral. No matter which bathroom I use in any place that's gender sensitive it's pretty much either a lot of staring or.. mostly older people telling me I'm in the wrong bathroom or similar. I've just got used to that I still use women's bathroom regardless of the stares or older women staring at me and yelling at me, I couldn't imagine getting clocked in the men's bathroom and then having to explain myself when I still sound very much like a woman. There are accessories like GoGirl, SheWee, P-Mate, UriFemme and so on that allow women to pee standing. They're designed for the women in the military and toursm, mountains, camping and so on. It might be useful for the trans men also. You might look that up if you haven't already.

I'm 15 and I'm a trans guy. I feel so uncomfortable using the girls bathroom at school so I end up just holding it until I get home. Everyone looks at me weird when I go in the girls bathroom and I'm not allowed to use the guys bathroom so I normally just avoid it

I’m non binary and I have a toilet schedule so I switch it around. There’s no real reason I do this it’s just a general rule of thumb. It’s go to the women’s when you’re on your period, go to the women’s when your mom is outside and go to the women’s when you badly need to pee, go to the men’s when the line is too long and why not when you need to poop. The schedule part is that I go to the men’s in the afternoon and go to the women’s in the morning for extra toilet variety.

im pre T, and lately going to my schools girl's bathroom makes me feel uncomfortable. mainly because every girl stares at me for a second thinking im a guy. i literally walk in with my head down and leave as quick as i can. my school doesnt have gender neutral restrooms and i really wish there were )):

in my school it's only either boy or girl bathrooms... I'm FtM pre-T. Last time I used the women bathroom a few girls came and laughed at me saying i had nowhere to be here so as i'm very anxious around people i just walked away blushing.. So after this i once went to wash my hands (not even using the toilets, i went there for a few seconds) and i got kicked out by a teacher cause students told me i was in there... yikes, when you have social anxiety this reaaally isn't helping

there's one thing I love about using the men's restroom and that's that there is basically never a queue (or at least there's never one as long as the women's)

I've found that the safest way for me to use the men's room is if I avoid speaking. I'm Pre-T and I pass pretty well as long as I keep my mouth shut.

I work in a clinic and we have two bigger gendered toilets with multiple stalls on the groundfloor - BUT we do have genderneutral single toilets on all the other floors. It's great. You're always right and you're on your own and have all the privacy you need. I feel like everybody likes it.

Im a cis female and several times so far the ladies restroom at work gets clogged and is closed. Now i could either use the mens toilets right next to it or walk the endless path across the supermarket to the other bathrooms which is too long for my tiny bladder. When only the mens toilets are available i try to make sure theres nobody in there when i use it cuz its awkward but ultimately when you gotta go you gotta go. There are 3 stalls in the mens room. Never be ashamed of yourself. People who need privacy use a stall

My way around this issue is use the disabled toilet. That way I don't have to deal with staring girls (cause I pre everything FTM) or getting beaten up in the mens

At the regional competition for science Olympiad the college we were at had gender neutral bathrooms everywhere. At the time I didn’t realize I was trans yet, but I still thought it was cool. I can’t wait to go to regionals this year simply for that reason :)

I constantly pass as male, even though I haven't started my transition yet. Although haven't gotten the courage to use the men's restroom yet. However when I do use the public restroom I get quite a few strange looks as if I don't belong in the women's toilets; which, truthfully I don't, but I'm just not ready for that step in the process yet.

Not knowing which to use is the worst. You just have to pray no one is in the bathroom that you inevitably have to choose.

my school has 4 unisex bathrooms. one in A block (south of the school) and one in S block (north west of the school). when i first came out to friends and realised the bathrooms were unisex, i was honestly sooo happy. i still struggle with the whole "what bathroom do i use" thing because I'm pre-T

Because I'm 4'8" I just play it safe and use the women's. Even though I bind, until I start growing facial hair I don't think anyone will question me as female because of my size. Whereas I'm too scared of what reception I'd get in the men's.

gender nuetral bathrooms are my god damn reason to live lmao like I get odd looks like men and women's bathrooms because like I'm really androgynous looking I'm even out or anything I just have short hair and a boyish face which is nice when strangers call me sir and shit but im only ever out in public with like my family so

I can act pretty confident using the men's room. I don't always pass, I used to look really androgynous, but I put on an aura of confidence and go in. I rarely use public restrooms in general, but I've never been given weird looks in the men's room, which is nice. I'm pre-T btw.

At my high school, we had 5 unisex bathrooms, one in the library, 2 in the theater class & 2 in a hallway. The 2 in the hallway & in the theater classroom were labeled as a male bathroom & a female bathroom. Like they were 2 separate unisex bathrooms but labeled for each gender, but what’s the point in labeling them 4 specific genders if they’re set up like a unisex bathroom (one toilet & one sink with no stalls)?

The first time I used a male restroom this is how it happened. I was in Philiadelphia and wasn't going home until 10 and it was like 4:30. So we (me, my sister, and my brother, and my mom) were in a Dunkin' Donuts and there was a gender neutral bathroom. BUT some person was in it the entire time we were in the store so I didn't get the chance. Then we went we're we were actually going and there was only a male and female restroom. I had to pee so badly but it took me like an hour to work up the courage to go into the men's restroom 😅 and there were people there too- a lot. Thankfully, I usually pass. So, yeah, first time for that!

The women’s rooms tend to be cleaner so I use them. But I have gotten funny comments made such as a small child telling her mom “ there’s a boy in here! He’s wearing boys shoes! “ as she could only see my feet under the stall. The mom had to explain “ they can wear boys shoes if they want honey, leave them alone they’re just trying to use the restroom like everyone else. “ it was kind of adorable actually.

There is one (1) gender neutral bathroom in my work, labelled as the "Family" bathroom... And half the time someone's using it, plus it doesn't even have a sanitary disposal... It's got a baby-changing station tho :/

It's also awkward when the gender neutral bathroom is a one-stall lock-door bathroom and you have to knock to see if it's available, and when it's not everyone in the hall sees you shrink away into the women's next door

It was a rather pleasant surprise, after a foreign language class where the teacher insisted that I be called the equivalent of young lady, to reach the gender neutral bathroom and find it occupied. Just kidding, the pleasant surprise was when I went into the other bathroom (I was running late) and every girl inside looked up like they wanted to know what I was doing there. I was binding (pre-everything), but with a t-shirt tight enough to show off muscles--and every line of the binder. Still the first time I wasn't instantaneously read as a girl.
