I have that exact kit, same colour and everything. It's worked well for me. I'm very pleased with how they both look and perform. I think it's wrong to infer that these are for low end PC's.. They are made well, with materials good enough for any system outside of industrial server environments. I have a high end system but I just can't justify to myself spending silly money on simple cables, the wire gauge is plenty enough to attach to my AX1600i and overclocked components. They're all just sleeved copper wire at the end of the day.

If you want to stay on a budget and don’t feel like hassling with these extensions then what I would actually recommend is using fans that have one color LEDs because you can use ketchup and mustard colors and they are guaranteed to be a much lower price. If you look at the prices of fans then the cheapest ones are like the ones from the early 00’s that look like ketchup and mustard even though they were more expensive when they were made. This is because they made too much and now that the craze of fully transparent plastic and one color LEDs are out of fashion they are extremely great for getting good performance on a budget build. I mean you buy 5-6 fans for $20 and you end up with something that looks slightly more expensive. They key here is aesthetic, as Lo-Fi is becoming increasingly popular. Imagine a sleeper PC with 00’s aesthetic, now that’s style. Do you have a cheap case with acrylic? Paint the window with ketchup and mustard! Do you have a stock cpu cooler? Paint it with mustard and ketchup! How about those pesky USB ports? Paint it with mayonnaise! Pretty soon you’ll be gettin’ the vibe. Just remember, if it looks like trash then it must be trash, so make a trash PC for aesthetic. You know, like how they played trash cans in the 90’s as part of music pieces. Because why not, Just go with it!

I used extensions for the 1st time on my new build in a Lian Li 011D Evo, bright yellow ones that really stood out in the black case and adequate room in the power supply chamber for cable management. Still, it was a lot of cables crammed in there and I ended up taking the extensions out and just going with the black PSU cables which blended in with the case. I used those U-shaped adaptors for the GPU which worked great at cutting down on cable clutter.

Well, I think this build was used for representation purpose only. Tbh, yes someone spending around $300 wouldn't bother with a $30 cable extension kit because for that you might just buy a better psu that comes with flat black cables and more warranty or if you are satisfied with your psu (most people at this budget don't really care that much about psu, as long as it's from a reputable brand and has 80+) you can buy a better gpu or add extra storage. But someone with a $800-$1000 build might. Buy a cheap pack of rgb fans and through in a $30 cable extension, will make it look significantly pretty, and it's like only 3% of the total cost.

I just build a 2500K system this week with all the modern bells and whistles, you could call it a reverse sleeper build, >600€ build with only 60€ worth of CPU+GPU inside, i've build it for my Dad, he is no gamer, all he needs is a facebook machine (heck, he'd be happy with an Intel NUC) but he deserves something that looks awesome so i went all out on it (within reason, no insane RGB, static LED lighting, but TG and cable extensions and everything you'd want in a modern build). He wants to do some Music recording and mixing with it... that really doesn't need much horse power, the most intensive thing that system will ever do is play some youtube videos. SSD, RAM and PSU are solid choices though and if it ever needs an upgrade this thing is future proof as hell.

When I had my FX-8320 + R9 290 build, it was a black and red theme, so I have a set still in storage. When I went with RGB for my current rig, I decided to go with just black. Although early last month, and maybe it was a good call, I decided to throw my 9 y/o niece a rig together--mix of new and old. It was her first PC. Honestly, she doesn't play demanding games (mostly Injustice Gods Among Us and Burnout Paradise Remastered)...but also, with the coronavirus, she's now being home schooled and has access to a lot of resources. The whole theme of her build was black, white and purple. So she has my old R9 290 and FX-8320, 990FXA-UD3, 16GB DDR3, 750W PSU, Crucial MX500 1TB--wrapped in a Phanteks P300 in white with the EZDIY-FAB black and purple cable extensions. She also has RGB fans by EZDIY-Fab, their RGB heat spreaders, and a Wraith Prism RGB (was unused, I tossed it aside when I got my 2700X, in favour of an AiO)--RGB set to purple. Which, although it's not for the faint of heart, it might be worth covering EZDIY-Fab's RGB heat spreaders. You can get addressable, and non-addressable. I purchased Vengeance LPX in 2018 rather than RGB just because non-RGB was a lot cheaper over here in the UK back then--decided later that I wanted RGB. The difference is rather minuscule now. The addressable ones come with an adapter for Gigabyte's VDG connector, which conveniently plugs into Corsair's Lighting Node Pro...so they're sync'd with my fans, LED strips, and AiO.

It's the outer paracord sleeve, which is a type of nylon. Paracord is great for many things, but the downside here is that you have to heat shrink every end and of course take the time to sleeve every wire. If you want one color, buying paracord and doing it yourself may be cheaper. If you want more than one color, you'd be better off buying extensions.

It’ll be $300+ to get all the cables. At that rate I’d rather just drop $80-$90 on lian li’s strimer. Even still it’s hard to spend more on cables than I did on the psu which was $130. I get that they’re quality cables but that much just to pick a few colors by the strand is absurd lol.

Someone with a limited budget would probably not even put $30 on extension cables, but it's still considered a cheap aesthetic custom way to make the build look good. This gets a thumbs up from me as $30 is way cheaper than what others spend that have more disposable income. So I totally agree that it makes no sense to spend over $100 for custom cables despite having more disposable income or not. Personally, what makes that system look cheap is that intel cooler. It looks like a typical innards of a prebuilt Dell pc. I would change that cooler to a custom cooler first and foremost before $30 extension cable as that eliminates the look of a cheap $500 PC plus you get benefits of better cooling. a Hyper EVO 212 for $30 would be a better investment. Then later I would get the extension cables to make it look better as it eliminates the bad look of standard psu cables.

Man i bought one of those 100€ cable mod kits for my modular Corsair RM750x PSU, my case does not have a PSU shroud so i bit the bullet and just bought a full kit, i was NOT happy, i mean i made it work for my build and they are quality cables, but they have to compromise a lot more on the cable runs when they actually replace the entire cable which results in weird twists and janky stuff that you wouldn't get with extensions. Since then i make sure to only buy Cases with PSU shrouds, even if the PSU is modular so i can just use extensions, they are a ton cheaper and cleaner. Don't bother buying the full kits guys... The build in the video would totally need a full cablemod kit or a PSU shroud, that visible ketchup&mustard rats nest next to the PSU would not fly with me. But i get this is just an advertisement for this specific kit and for 30 bucks that is actually a pretty damn good deal. I paid 10 bucks or so at cablemod just for cable combs... and they were shit and i didn't use them ;P

Lol you could cover the base of the unit with cheap plastic and it'd hide the colors. Most cases have basements, anyway. And this wasn't an ad for the cables. I discuss all pros and cons. There just weren't many cons for this price.

Just spend the extra 30 bucks on the psu and boom... No ketchup and mustard cables.

I thought these were not extension cables, you know for modular power supplies only. Whats the point of having a modular power supply if you cant even use the mod cables as a replacement for the original cables that came with the psu?
