I think watching you wire large trees is both informative and therapeutic. Watching your hands work, bending the wire and guiding the tree is absolutely fascinating, especially with the close ups on the tree. You're talking though how you want the tree to be shaped and as you progress I as a viewer also begin to see this shape. Not to mention there's always some tid bit of knowledge you're giving out. It would be very easy to watch you wire whole trees, though that might just be because I'm still very new to the hobby. Great video as always!

Thank You for your beautiful description of the trees Sir. In nature we do observe trees living naturally in similar conditions. We see trees on mountain tops , and rocky areas where very little soil exists , but the trees thrive , they are locked into the very cracks of the rocks , they are watered by rain only , whatever nutrition they get is from nature itself ! I have not been taught by bonsai masters , other than the many You Tube master bonsai craftspersons. But look at nature , look for the trees growing , surviving in even cracks in concrete sidewalks sometimes . Your trees in this episode show just how resilient nature is , how after being planted over 50 years ago , and watered in such small ceramic pots they live . Just like the trees on the mountain tops!!

Yes I love the concept of just being custodians of the trees, the trees outliving us, and the memory of someone living on after they have passed away through the trees they were custodians of. If climate change knocks all of us off, at least the trees in our gardens in our cities will be monuments to the lives we lived.

It's amazing how many right answers there are to a tree design. Personally I would have given that big old tree a trunk chop all the way down, and made that long bottom branch the new leader. Well maybe not a complete chop; I'd probably make some big jin. Your solution was still very good, and conservative so you don't give the customer a heart attack. By the way, Dan Robinson almost never reports his trees. It takes away their youthful vigour, but he says it keeps them in stasis, in a mature state, which helps them survive longer. This might be what happened with these!

@robertwinke7386

I was screaming inside for him to at least consider that solution. Also the trunk on the back looked really interesting with that twist so he could have considered using that as the front (the whole trunkline had a slight bend from that angle so that could have been utilized too). Also I would have choped off half of the top crown to make it look more conical. ( I don't like twin trunks or evenly thick branches coming from the same point)

21:50 - "all she has done is use a bit of aluminium wire and tie the branches close together hoping that that is called wiring. It's amazing how many people do this and they think that this is wiring a tree... no way". There were more, but of the top of my head, there was one with watering, where "an old lady" (maybe the same and she's just not Peter's favorite) brought in a half dead tree, because she thought the tree can survive with no water. I would never dare to bring a tree there to then be called stupid in a video :D Lucky he doesn't give her name. sooo funny :))))
