"It really is true what they say that 'college just ends one random afternoon and you don't realize that it's happening.' It's just this slow fizzling out and then suddenly, you're done." -- Sounds like the first line in a dark academia story told from the perspective of a teacher's assistant or a librarian at the circulation desk. Congratulations on finishing your thesis and getting that Master's of Science!

Trash reading is the best, I’m reading one called “Fantasy Lover” and this spartan man trapped in a book for thousands of years and the only thing he comes out for is to please women, HILARIOUS. It’s so bad but that’s what makes it so good

I swear your videos brings me immense happiness. I can’t go out and there’s no nature where I live so watching your videos kind of transports me to another place? it’s literally like reading a cozy book and you’re the protagonist. I love all the small things you do like buying a candle, making coffee , visiting libraries, buying books, watching an anime, playing a video game, going for a walk (God how I wish that I could go for a walk). It makes me feel like I have a friend and it makes me experience many things ♥️ the emotions your videos provoke and I can feel your emotions while doing those mundane little things that bring you happiness and bring me happiness in my daily life as well. you’re my favorite youtuber because you’re so real, so you. Love you and never stop making these kind of videos.

Jane Eyre is a bit more accessible than Wuthering Heights IMO. Wuthering Heights starts off really, really slow, but then picks up and is heartbreaking and an excellent portrait of toxic love. Jane Eyre has more spooky/gothic vibes and has a bit of a slower part towards the end, but is really worth it and it really digs deep into Jane's psychology, thoughts and struggles. Both are really excellent books.

I will also read Babel this fall which is probably my first Dark Academia book ever. Also I can totally relate to what you said about college just ending one random afternoon without realizing it happening. I felt like that when I graduated my bachelors and then I decided to start my masters, even tho I initially didn't want to. Idk I just felt a little lost without university and didn't know what I want to do yet. After my masters I'm probably gonna be lost again :D

@@TheBookLeo aw, thank you for replying. I guess I just miss the cozy reading vlogs, where you share your normal everyday, cinematic shots, and intertwine your thoughts on various topics (like how readers pressure themselves to read x amount of books, value on being not doing, etc). Those are like my ultimate comfort videos :)

This video was just what I needed this morning! Autumn really did just happen overnight in the netherlands didn't it. Though with today's sunshine the temp in my flat is already back up to 25c. It's a bit of a weird one for me, my SAD hit really early this year and now it's already manageable again and I'm actually looking forward to autumn, while usually I'm very much a summer person. I want to go to the forest so bad! But the local forest is depressing af, so I'll have to hop on a train sometime soon.

I get that about Rogerson. I think her strengths are in her world building mainly, and her characters and dialogue also comes off as natural. She has fantastic concepts that does draw me in. But she is lacking in other areas and as a result when I'm reading her work it doesn't feel like it is going to anywhere, or building anything. It just feels random and like the book lacks direction. The only one I really enjoyed was An Enchantment of Ravens, and that is because it was advertised as a fun easy YA fantasy, and that is exactly what I got and what I was in the mood for.

In summation, "The Deal was awful but somehow enjoyable." Same, honestly. I am not going to read the other books in the series, since all the guys are dudebros (big turnoff), but I enjoyed The Deal more than I thought I would, and sometimes I just want to read uncomplicated trash because reality can be so bleak. I hated one of the tropes the author employed for conflict (no spoilers), but other than that, it was pretty fun. I think I gave it 3 or 3.5 stars. I tried to read Bully by Penelope Douglas afterwards and DNF'd it after a few chapters, but I am tempted by Lauren Asher's Dreamland Billionaire series or The Hunted series by Ivy Smoak. I enjoyed this vlog so much. Thank you. I finally got my twin sister to watch one of your videos, and now she is a subscriber.
