1. Recall important memories.
2. Try not to compare your last church and community with your new situation.
3. Don't under sell the stress of the transition.
4. Expect to go through the stages of grief because you have lost close touch with friends, a church, a home., school and community
5. Prepare your family for the sense of loss of identity as they come to a new place compared to the identity they had in the former
6. Settle in as quickly as possible do everything you can do to make the new place seem like home even if you're in a rented apartment for a while.
7. Make sure you spend ample time with your family, even though you were busy trying to engage a new ministry
8. Worship is even more important than ever.
9. Take day trips to discover the joy and fun places of your new home.
10. Begin a new scrapbook or memories of the new place.
11. Group activities as quickly as possible for your children and spouse to engage so they become part of a new event outside the church
