The first lesson we can take from the Germans on trains is to take control of our trains back to keep the profits from the train fares in this country and on our own trains. Blaming covid is ridiculous. These train companys are all about profits, and they have cut down on driver training, there are huge amounts of people who apply for these jobs, that get through the initial on line assessment and then a year later are told to re apply for the same job. Also, the amount of "spare" turns, where a driver will do a shift that will cover any driver who may be late, be ill or any reason is not at work, have been severely cut to a bare minimum.
