Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Your videos are giving me game changing insight which I am implementing in my healing & growth. I feel like you give regular people the power to help themselves when the professionals I’ve chosen just keep me running in a circle chasing my sanity. I don’t need a band aid of life long meds . I need clarity on my issues so I can actually heal the wounded parts of my brain & soul. I’ve never had the inner workings explained to me even tho I’ve asked. You really are a guiding light! I’ve been battling childhood trauma issues that resurfaced in 2001 when I wit my brother have a fatal motorcycle accident. I’ve put myself in debt with medical doctors & psychiatrist & even energy healers tho I remain somewhat stagnant. Much love & gratitude!

Hi, trauma-informed assessment is a critical component of providing care for individuals who have experienced trauma. The principles of trauma-informed assessment are designed to create a safe environment for clients, promote awareness and understanding of trauma, and support recovery. Here are some of the key principles: 1. Promote Trauma Awareness: Understanding the impact of trauma on individuals and communities is essential. This includes recognizing that what may be traumatic for one person may not be for another. 2. Safety: Creating both emotionally and physically safe environments for clients to minimize the risk of retraumatization. 3. Universal Routine Screenings: Incorporating screenings for trauma in all service settings to identify those affected by trauma. 4. Cultural Responsiveness: Viewing trauma through a socio-cultural lens and recognizing that the manifestation and expression of symptoms can differ based on cultural beliefs and practices. 5. Strengths-Focused: Emphasizing resilience and trauma-resistant skills, focusing on clients' coping skills, social supports, and accomplishments. 6. Client Autonomy and Empowerment: Supporting clients' control, choice, and autonomy in the assessment process. 7. Collaborative Relationships: Creating opportunities for participation and collaboration with clients during the assessment. 8. Avoiding Retraumatization: Being sensitive to the potential for assessments to trigger clients and using techniques such as grounding to maintain emotional safety. 9. Recognizing Symptoms as Adaptive Responses: Acknowledging that trauma-related symptoms and behaviors are adaptations to traumatic experiences. 10. Validated Instruments: Using validated tools for trauma screening and assessment to ensure accuracy and reliability. 11. Psychoeducation: Educating clients about trauma, its effects, and available interventions. 12. Legal and Ethical Considerations: Being aware of mandatory reporting requirements and the legal implications of assessment information. 13. Ongoing Assessment: Continuously tracking changes in symptoms and the relationships among the client's experiences. 14. Inclusion of Support Systems: Considering the inclusion of family, clergy, and other support systems in the treatment process. 15. Empathy and Support: Providing empathetic support throughout the assessment and treatment process. 16. Trauma Identification: Recognizing the prevalence of trauma and its impact on health, mental health, and relationships. These principles are part of a broader approach to trauma-informed care, which also includes realizing the prevalence of trauma, recognizing its effects, and responding by integrating knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, and practices. It's important to approach trauma-informed assessment with sensitivity, respect, and a commitment to the well-being and recovery of the client.
