Or keep dreaming and planning with everyone else. We are very frustrated right now, but there are many open places in the US to visit while we wait. Thank you for watching!

We have always called it a Dopp Kit. The original dopp kit was made in the 1920s by Charles Doppelt, a leather-goods maker in Chicago, and he made the bag for men to store their toiletries. He initially called it the “toilet bag”, but because toilets conjure an entirely different association-quite the opposite of “clean”-Doppelt’s bags were affectionately dubbed “dopp kits”. He sold the bags locally until he secured a contract with the US Army who supplied troops with Doppelt’s kits during World War II, which consequently made Doppelt and his toiletry bag famous. After the war, men returning home loved the Dopp kit so much they continued to use it. Today, the legacy of Doppelt lives on.

I saw and really liked the Bento Bag, too, and a review would be interesting. I couldn't justify the cost, though, so bought a just-like version by Bagsmart on sale for nearly $200.00 less. Same fabric, same layout, quality workmanship - and this one has side pockets. It meets most domestic underseat regs, and I'm using it with a freestanding luggage cart purchased for $18.00 on sale. All those savings go straight to my travel fund. Preparing for and traveling on a budget is challenging but can also be fun. Stay safe, everyone.

I recently bought the Vera Bradley ReActive Mini Weekender Bag. I do love it, and I love how it's made out of recycled water bottles, but it's a touch bigger than I was expecting. @@Smfb123 Can I ask why? Like genuinely, I'm interested in knowing people's reasoning for not wearing a mask.
@Karideplov
3 жыл бұрын
@@Smfb123 I was hopeing to get a real answer and not a "because I don't want to". Everyone I ask basically has that same response but barely provides a thought driven answer. If you allow me, let me explain why I do wear a mask despite finding it extremely uncomfortable. I wear a mask because many generations of healthcare professionals and scientist (people that have studied and dedicated their entire professional careers) have adopted the practice of wearing a mask for centuries while caring for the sick or dealing with dangerous substances. They understand that breathing in any disease or virus can have harmful side effects for their health or, if they are the carrier of any disease, could have harmful side effects for people that come in contact with them. A medical staff in an operating room wears a mask to protect the person laying on an OR table from catching anything that they may be carrying while being in a vulnerable position. I also wear a mask because this is not the first air-born deadly disease that has plagued mankind. Many other cultures that have faced easily transmited/airborn diseases understood that covering their mouth and nose helped aid slow down or even stop the spreading of the disease. Who am I to question a practice that other cultures have adopted, used and continue to practice after seeing it's effective results (when the practice in question is in no way harmful). I also wear a mask because it litterally is the least you could do. No one is asking you to chop off your arm, not one is asking you to jump hurdles. They are simply asking you to put a small piece of cloth over your mouth and nose, something that will in no way cause you bodily harm. You are right. It is your body. But the choices you make can affect other people and cause them harm. The same way you don't take a child with the chicken pox to school in hopes of them infecting other children, you also don't go out into public areas without a mask and potentially infect someone with Covid. And by the way, I'm glad you believe in "my body, my choice". It's nice to know the LGBTQ community, the trans community, the recreational drug use community and the Pro-choice community has a strong and vocal advocate on their side with you. You, too, believe that it is their body, their choice to love who they want to love, choose the gender they identify with, spoke the joint they want to smoke and carry to full term pregnancy the children they want to have. Thank you for being an advocate for those communities :)

And no one said anything about being afraid. I said it is not an effort to follow a request to wear a mask for a few months. My question was merely asking what logical reasoning would you not have to wear a mask other than “I don’t feel like it”. It wouldn't let me reply in my own thread. @Travel Tips by Laurie The tech pouch I got was from target in the dollar isle they usually have by the entrance. It has an elastic that says "All wrapped up." I got it because it can fit in my mesh briefcase pocket. It's about the same size as a small travel wallet. It has 5 inner pockets. I put a small back up charger, two 6 foot cables and the charger base which can fold the prongs inside. The charger was one I got at some gas station when the hotel would not lend us one from lost and found. my personal rule while traveling is to not eat at food chains at all. On this one I ate at a hole in the wall place called the Pig Sty. I got a pulled pork sandwich there and it was one of the best bbq sandwiches I ever had. Another thing I have done is google "(city name), restaurants on Travel Channel." That was how we found a diner that literally throws your dinner rolls at you. People bring everything to catch them including baseball gloves and fishing nets. The only exception was we had to stop at Dairy Queen's oldest operating location.

I’m flying out Monday to Minnesota. What kind of snacks are allowed? Also, can I bring a sandwich to eat after I check in security? How do I pack it? Thank you😊

Oh awesome!! Brrrr! You can bring any food-just put it in a clear bag (any size) and throw it in the gray bin for security. Then you can put them anywhere. I pack that food bag at home so no stress in security. The food can be in any packaging in that clear bag fyi. Thank you for watching!

I need to go somewhere warm! I live ten minutes from IAH and it isn’t supposed to be this cold, even in Crystal Beach it’s freezing 😩. Sorry rant over, I love all your new gadgets for travel. I wear hearing aids as well, do you put ear pods in over them? Thanks for all the great ideas ❤️

Oh my word, April. That's why we went to Miami...to escape the cold of Houston lol. And it was 62 degrees and super windy cold. But it was sunny. If we could just see the sun that would help. Thank you for watching!

Hello, love all your good ideas. I travel frequently from Ky to FLA. How do you feel about the new regulations about ESDs. My spaniel has travelled with me several times on my lap and has done exceptionally well. Many people have asked to pet her and bragged on how well behaved she is, even crew members. I guess we will drive more and fly less to be able to take her with us to our second home. Have you flown with your new dog?

I made a video with the new rules: bit.ly/EmotionalSupportAnimalRules If you can fit her in a pet carrier, do that. You just have to pay for it. Hope this helps and best of luck to you!

Depends on the airline. My last flight didn’t use in app entertainment and didn’t give out earbuds (had to pay 5-6€ or something that seemed way to high for the bad quality I knew they were). I’ll always keep some old corded headphones in my bag now.

I just got my eyeglass cleaner thingie - sounds like a marshmallow chick LOL. This thing is awesome! So much easier than a cloth - which I carry and never use or find it smears. These work perfect and make my glasses feel brand new! Thank you for the suggestion and your great videos. Looking forward to more real packing info as I seem to have tried every style and am still not sure. Weight is a huge issue as all our travel is international. Stay safe and wash that mask each use Please!

Linda, yay! I really like the Peeps! I've washed my masks twice this week woohoo! What do I do if I only wear them to the grocery store? I've done that twice this week and worn it into a restaurant. Stillllllllllll working on that packing video. It also hurts my back videoing the folding etc in a torqued way so as not to get in the video lol. Thanks for watching!

Just got home a few days ago from a 6 week trip to my parents' house for Christmas, and we drove there and back. Back when I was actually wearing a mask - hardly ever wear one anymore, because I'm in the exempt category in my state, and hardly anywhere near where I live even has a mask rule, and of the ones that do, almost none of them actually enforce it - I washed mine about once a week on cold, air dried flat with pleats folded; when it was dry, it looked like I had ironed it.

What about those vacuum sealed bags? Are those allowed in you carry on bag? Are Compression bags better for geting through everything? I am moving, an have to fly there so I am trying to make sure I have everything I need.
@TravelTipsbyLaurie

Exciting!! Yes they are allowed in any bag. I found that I don't grab the vacuum bags as often as I do the compression bags. But I just got them last summer too. Either would be great for fitting those bigger items in. Have fun! Thank you for watching.

I have a tiny tin first aid kit about the size of a cigarette pack that goes with me everywhere. It holds a few assorted bandaids & a few packets or a small tube of antibiotic and hydrocortisone creams. It has saved the day so many times. I have had larger kits but 99% of the time the bandaids/creams are all I use, so I changed to this small kit & it works fine. If I use the little packets of cream I never get stopped by security, but they do fit easily into a liquids bag if they need to be moved.
