TRAVEL REPORT - AIR CANADA ‘RAPID AIR’ AC454 TORONTO PEARSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO OTTAWA MAC DONALD CARTIER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT EMBRAER 175 (economy cabin)
LOUNGE
The Air Canada Domestic Maple Leaf Lounge is a good lounge with generous space and seating, quiet work areas and business centers including a snack bar and a buffet with good lunch/snack options that takes up a wing of the lounge. There are computers and printers for use. A business center is located in the lounge with a quiet cell-phone free work area. The lounge has a kid’s zone with beanbags and a TV. You can get in with a lounge pass or lounge membership; for guests traveling with someone who has a lounge membership it’s $15.
AIRCRAFT
The EMB190 is a really good aircraft with good fuel efficiency and a range of 2,100 nautical miles. The registration of this aircraft is C-FNAW.
SEAT
My seat was good but the aircraft has no headrests with movable parts. There is one USB charging outlet per seat and an IFE screen with movies, TV shows, music and a dedicated children’s selection; the IFE is quite slow. The seats have a pitch of 78.7 cm (31 in) and a recline of 15.2 cm (6 in). The drink service had juice, pop, tea and coffee. The Air Canada café is available onboard the aircraft with items for purchase. The tray table is a decent size and the middle armrest is movable to be flush with the seats. The overhead bins can hold 1-3 small-medium roll-on bags and the under-seat space can hold a big backpack. Air Canada changed the aircraft 2 times before "settling" on the E190. Please note that plane changes are common on this route, and at the time of filming it was the December holidays so plane changes are even more common at this time.
