We live full-time in Airbnb's, and we usually stay for longer periods of at least one month, and often 3 to 6 months. We always ask the host if they can lower the price to fit into our budget. Quite often, we have found there is room to negotiate. It's always nice to get some kind of a discount off of the listed price. Cheers from Vancouver :)

Great tips Neil, Sarah 👍🏻 I stay in Airbnbs when traveling. I do ask hosts if they'd be flexible on rate and explain why I'm asking. Sometimes it's bc I like their property but it's $20/night more than my budget. I've never had a host say no that they wouldn't lower the rate. I enjoy being upfront and never want to waste someone's time. Take care!

Vietnam is the only country I've visited where beer (in cans or bottles) are the same or sometimes slightly cheaper than bottled water, at a restaurant.

Any chance you’ll ever share your costs of traveling along the coast of Australia? I know the peasants revolted against the Australian travel series but I’d love to hear about the road trip costs.

Hi, thanks for your work, I am a keen follower of yours. Yes, there is such a place where you often find alcohol, especially beer cheaper than soft drinks and that is my home city, Prague. Several years ago, there was even a law proposal that in restaurants, bars etc. at least ONE soft drink must be cheaper than an alcoholic drink of the same volume :).

You mentioned taking a 32 day cruise. Is there a video on that on the channel? I looked but could not find it. We have been looking at repositioning cruises as one of the ways to slow travel and I would love to hear about your experience.

Hey! I've missed you guys so much. I know I've been out of the loop due to life, BUT we (me and my cat!) are finally headed to Europe in October for as long as I can shuffle around. I am so excited! First stop, Portugal. Some of these tips will come in pretty handy. Especially the Airbnb one. Can't wait for the more detailed video. I already have several "wishlists" of properties saved so I've already done half the work :)

One thing you missed I know it is a regular thing in many states in the USA and might be the same in other countries. It is church carnivals and for example community festivals. These are free to attend, there are local bands and college acting groups for entertainment. The food which is varied is inexpensive and the best I have ever eaten. Check out the local papers we did this last summer on our tour through thr state we live in and are destination of Maine

This was great, rapid-fire and packed with solid info. Yes, my Schwab account is great, ATM fee rebates both domestically (USA) and internationally. If you can’t find a cheap local beer at a cantina/bar, then buy a 6-pack at the market and discretely take it to a local park. Enjoy!!!! Bill

We recently saved ourselves money catching the train and bus from our hotel on the outer city area of Toronto to the International Airport. Instead of taking local subway to the city and catching the special airport train which would cost us $30CAD, we caught 2 subway trains and a bus (which took us the same amount of time as the other way anyhow) and it only cost $6CAD as it was done within the 2 hr limit of the subway ticket.

My husband and I have been following your channel for nearly two years since we started our nomadic life. We stayed at The Robertsons in Kuala Lumpur after seeing your recommendation and truly enjoyed the place. In your last video you mentioned that you did a cruise from the northern hemisphere to the south. We cannot recall seeing anything like that in the 2GORoam channel and are considering some cruise travel in the future (we are normally not cruise fans), did we miss the video or was it never posted? In the mean time, we will continue to enjoy your posts. Thanks!

Hey Amanda, we are doing a House Sit in the UK at the moment. Tricky thing with videos is that you can only cover one subject in each video, if i go on a tangent, we lose all new viewers. KZitem is complicated at the best of times for us 😀 There is going to be a big reveal but that will be in a little while as we are going to focus on Airbnb and house sitting in the next few videos. Sorry if i have annoyed you.

I guess another cost saving is what you are doing now - house sitting. A friend of ours had an accident on a scooter in Bali - has had a lot of operations since. Not worth it. I think a video on house sitting would be interesting.

I couldn’t believe how cheap the beer was at the Grand Canyon. In 2012 it was $10 for 6 pack. Here I was thinking in a National Park I was going to pay through the nose.
