Can Tho is one of five centrally run cities in Vietnam. This is the busiest and most developed city in the Mekong Delta, serving as the economic, cultural, social, medical, educational and commercial center of the entire region. Can Tho is currently a grade I urban area, a central city at the regional and national level.
Ha Tien is a city located in the northwest of Kien Giang province, Vietnam.
Ha Tien city was formerly located in Ha Tien district, Rach Gia province and then in Kien Giang province, in the key economic region of the Mekong Delta and in the province's golden triangle tourism region: Rach Gia - Ha Tien - Phu Quoc and surrounding districts.
Currently, Ha Tien city is not the provincial capital of Kien Giang province, but the provincial capital is Rach Gia city. However, Ha Tien used to be the capital of the old Ha Tien province during the French colonial period before 1956. In particular, Ha Tien was the capital of the entire Ha Tien province during the independent Nguyen Dynasty. Ha Tien province at that time included Kien Giang province, Ca Mau province and part of today's Hau Giang, Soc Trang and Bac Lieu provinces. Ha Tien city is currently a class III urban area.
