I rode my motorcycle up the Dempster to the Arctic Circle in 2016. Never saw any blue sky though. We were at the Arctic Circle for the Summer Solstice. We were toasting our arrival just three of us.. then we heard a clatter and a mini-bus with about 13 drunk Brits pulled in. Really! They had a package deal from London to visit the Arctic Circle on the Summer Solstice and flew from London to Calgary, then rode the bus up the Dempster. They were outside the bus with little pointed hats and horns like it was New Years Eve, stumbling with alcohol disorientation for about two minutes, then the mosquitoes drove them back in the bus and they were gone. It was bizarre. We might have thought it wasn't real but we had videos of their presence!!! I will never, ever forget that summer solstice!!

you'll be happy to know that the Dempster is being redone, and not such a challenge anymore. happy travels!. Top of the world highway on the Canadian side is awesome. Sour toe challenge is a must.

It was already an amazingly easy road to travel! just a few sections of potholes, not much washoard, though, and we didn't get one flat tire! Cars however, fared less well. Several got flat tires. It was still a great journey and very sad to hear that a fire ravaged the tundra yet again near Eagle Plains along the highway.

Good video until you spouted off about climate change making it dusty, sad

Sad because it’s happening? Or because you don’t think it’s real. Not sure what you meant here. Honestly, it’s been so long since I posted this video, but I don’t remember the specific comment that you are referring to. however, climate change is definitely real. The tundra is not only having permafrost melting, but they had fires that raged across the tundra after we had left to head south. Fires that are more frequent because it’s so much hotter and drier. We were reporting what we saw and what we heard from all the people that live there. And yes, because it was so much hotter and drier There was a lot of dust! But I assume that it would be dusty on any given week that it hadn’t rained because it is a dirt road.

@@BrendaTharp Sad because you had to make a good video political with clueless remarks. It was summer in the artic, nothing new, some years are dry, some aren't.
