Really enjoyed this, the scenery is beautiful. It really feels like the channel is finding it's feet, and the production values are so different (in a good way) from when it first started. Drone shots are incredible too. Look forward to more stories.

My wife and I are from Mississippi and have been to Scotland many times. We have hiked the Quirang on Skye and done the hike from Slighachan to the Fairy pools and back. We have also climbed from the car park to the Old Man of Storr. None of those hikes are too strenuous for Brits or Scots, but MS is FLAT. Very hard to get in hiking shape in MS. Scotland (and really, all the UK) has stunning landscapes. We love it.

@@GirlOutdoors Well Mississippi (MS) is so pedestrian compared to the UK. Lots of just normal people. Nothing too fancy. We get a knock for the race relations in the past, but I think on the whole it is so much better here than in lots of places in the Northeast. We've come a long way. However, lot's of good food and music. Last weekend was the Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale, MS. Tons of blues bands playing all over the town. Everyone mixes and has a great time. Best place to stay is the Cotton House in Cleveland, MS about 30 minutes away. We watched bands all afternoon and then ended up at the Ground Zero Blues Club (owned by Morgan Freeman and the heirs of the Bill Luckett estate). Really cool place. Derek St. Holmes, Dave Kiswiney, and John Whitehead (Ted Nugget Band on and off) played with support by my Brother-in-law, Scott Coopwood (Perfect Strangers, Yazoo Beach, Linwood, Bobalows, Shoebirds). We hung out all weekend, went to the real "crossroads" outside of Dockery Plantation. Those guys are real rockstars, but so nice and humble. They were a joy to hang around. If you are interested, Google Ground Zero Blues Club, Derek St. Holmes, Juke Joint Festival, etc. So much fun. MS gets hit for being probably the poorest state in the USA. True. But by some measures, California has the highest rate of poverty. There are more people in abject poverty in Los Angeles than there are people in Mississippi. We are mostly rural. Lots of flat, but green, fertile and gorgeous land. Super hot in the summer. More Scottish in the winter. Not too cold, but very wet usually. I think the mix of races and cultures, the hot weather, and just something else special makes Mississippi a fine place to be. Great art, artists, writers, and musicians. I have travelled so many places in the world for business and in the military. I love the food in the UK, both the traditional dishes and the food of the empire that is so fantastic. However, MS is actually a foodie destination. Too many great restaurants and hole-in-the-wall dives to be mentioned. I love your channel. I like the adventurous spirit you have. My son started the Appalachian Trail a week ago from the South. He is well up in North Carolina now and only about 2000 miles left to go. Best wishes from MS.

I was there in 1993 when they were building that bridge. There was a ferry that ran from Kyleakin maybe 15 minutes total , when I went it was completely loaded with sheep on the car deck. Midges were pure hell. The bridge workers smeared themselves with grease to keep them off. One of the few non rainy days though so it was all perfect.

As much as Skye is natural and beautiful, it's a shame that this natural beauty is now scarred by footpaths due to the erosion caused by the huge influx of visitors in the last couple of decades. It's nice seeing Skye in winter, it's almost the best time to go. During tourist season Skye is under immense pressure from visitors, as with a lot of our remote areas in Scotland.

@@tonypaddler Because of the romanticism of how it used to be disconnected? I first visited Skye on a family holiday in 1995 just before the bridge was completed, then in 2003 and it was still quiet then. But when I returned in 2014 it was horrendously busy. I don't believe the bridge has caused the massive influx, but it has certainly made the island more accessible.
