Hey, thanks for the great information. Do you happen to know of a good pet insurance that covers long periods of time travelling all over Europe? I’m struggling to find one that will cover more than 90 days a year. Thanks in advance!

(Information copied from the UK Gov website:) Your pet must have a blood sample taken at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination. Your vet must send the blood sample to an EU-approved blood testing laboratory from either inside the EU or outside the EU. The results of the blood test must show that the vaccination was successful (rabies antibody level of at least 0.5 IU/ml). You must wait 3 months from the date the blood sample was taken before you travel - you do not need to wait if your pet was vaccinated, blood tested and given a pet passport in the EU before travelling to a country that is not listed. The vet must give you a copy of the test results and enter the day the blood sample was taken in a health certificate. We hope this helps and answers your questions x

If you are travelling to Europe or a country that doesn’t require the antibody blood test then you do not have to wait the full 3 months before being able to travel and you can leave after the 21 days. If the country you are traveling to requires the blood test as mandatory then the above information is accurate (as provided by Gov.uk)

We have a 3 yr old dog here in UK with EU issued pet passport (not UK issued passport) now we are planning an Euro trip thru France, Netherlands, Germany and return to UK do we need the new certificate or current passport is valid still?

Always check with current guidelines but I believe an up to date European passport means that your pet can still travel outside of the UK without the need for a health certificate.

I’m in the same situation, EU passport should be fine to leave UK and for EU travel. My concern is coming back to UK!? I think we might still have to get the health certificate no? For them to be let back into the country!?

It is as far as these rules are concerned as Norway is part of the EEA though not a full EU member.
